Anniversary greetings to Pat & Terese S. Happy 48th Anniversary!

St Landericus embodies Jesus’ command that we care for the sick. Father, fill me with compassion and motivate me to act to help all your children, especially those who are poor and sick.

Meditations for Each Day, page 227, The Sacred Heart of Jesus Surmounted by a flaming Cross Let us remember however, that, although God’s love and goodness are infinite, so also is his justice.

Anima Christi

Soul of Christ, sanctify me.
Body of Christ, save me.
Blood of Christ, inebriate me.
Water from the side of Christ, wash me.
Passion of Christ, strengthen me.
O Good Jesus, hear me.
Within your wounds hide me.
Permit me not to be separated from you.
From the wicked foe, defend me.
At the hour of my death, call me
and bid me come to you
That with your saints I may praise you
For ever and ever. Amen.

Scripture Reading for Day 10 of Dealing with the Enemy
1 Peter 5:8-9 Be sober and vigilant. Your opponent the devil is prowling around like a roaring lion looking for [someone] to devour.f 9 Resist him, steadfast in faith, knowing that your fellow believers throughout the world undergo the same sufferings.
John 15:13 * No one has greater love than this,j to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.

The man continues to put in the shiplap ceiling in the kitchen
Easy day for me today and hopefully not a long one.
I continue to wait for a few packages to arrive. They are to be used in 2027.
I’m contemplating the upcoming election. Yard signs are appearing and those ridiculous propaganda ads that tell little truth and many lies by innuendo. I am amazed at who actually believes them. Many I have felt were intelligent, informed people are not. This is a sadness for me. I am concerned over what the young adults are thinking these days. AI continues its takeover. That amazes me as well. Can they not see how it will dictate the future? Then the push for a cashless society. Nothing like turning us into another China. Our churches are under attack. We are blind to morality. Jesus tells us “Do not despair” it is hard not to. Families are being torn in two. The disconnect is so obvious it is painful. There does not appear to be anything stable these days.

Know you are prayed for.

St. Columba shows how much help and comfort we give and receive as companions in faith. Lord, empower me through faithful companions and let me, in turn, lend them my strength and support at every opportunity.

From the Margins (notes found in the margins of books)
I have fought the good fight; I have finished the race; I have kept the faith. May it be my prayer each night as live each day for you. St. Paul 2 Tim 4

Scripture Reading for Day 9 of Dealing with the Enemy
Job 1:6-7 b One day, when the sons of God* came to present themselves before the LORD, the satan also came among them.c 7 The LORD said to the satan, “Where have you been?” Then the satan answered the LORD and said,d “Roaming the earth and patrolling it.”
Isaiah 56:5 I will give them, in my house and within my walls, a monument and a name* Better than sons and daughters; an eternal name, which shall not be cut off, will I give them.

Morning
Dismal and damp way to start the day but grateful for the moisture. We needed it. Was surprise to see how tall the “scarlet runners” are getting. The flowers in the yard are beautiful. The kitchen continues to move forward. Except for some tweaking the walls are painted and the wainscotting is up. Next stop ceiling, I guess. Not sure when the last cabinet will be ready to hang or the trim work will be completed. I am fortunate the man knows how to do these things. By now you all are probably tired of hearing about this project and wondering if it will ever be completed. I stand in those shoes with you however, I am still blest, grateful, and working on being patient.

I’d like to talk to you about Pray On Paper | Tools to Help You Pray Every Day A year ago I purchased the Examination Journal. Last month I joined the club. Yesterday I received my first envelope. It was filled with things I am going to be examining and using during the month of June. I cannot begin to express the joy packed into that envelope. I think this would be the perfect gift and I know I’ll be looking forward to receiving it each month.

St William’s unfair treatment shows that we can never know a person’s heart and should not judge or gossip. Father, close my ears to gossip and rumor; close my lips to slander and cruelty; close my mind to unfair judgment and assumptions.

Scripture Reading Day 8 of Dealing with the Enemy
Genesis 3:15 I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; They will strike at your head, while you strike at their heel.* g NOTE: Enmity- a state or feeling of active opposition/or hostility
1 John 3:16 The way we came to know love was that he laid down his life for us; so we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers.k

Meditations for Each Day, pg. 223, The Promises made to those who practice Devotion to the Sacred Heart Jesus told St Margaret Mary Alacoque special blessing to thsoe who would be truly devoted to His Sacred Heart. ” I will give them all the graces necessary for their state in life… consolation in all their troubles… peace in their families… blessings on all their undertakings”

1. I will give them all the graces necessary in their state of life.

2. I will establish peace in their homes.

3. I will comfort them in all their afflictions.

4. I will be their secure refuge during life, and above all, in death.

5. I will bestow abundant blessings upon all their undertakings.

6. Sinners will find in my Heart the source and infinite ocean of mercy.

7. Lukewarm souls shall become fervent.

8. Fervent souls shall quickly mount to high perfection.

9. I will bless every place in which an image of my Heart is exposed and honored.

10. I will give to priests the gift of touching the most hardened hearts.

11. Those who shall promote this devotion shall have their names written in my Heart.

12. I promise you in the excessive mercy of my Heart that my all-powerful love will grant to all those who receive Holy Communion on the First Fridays in nine consecutive months the grace of final perseverance; they shall not die in my disgrace, nor without receiving their sacraments. My divine Heart shall be their safe refuge in this last moment.

Body not feeling well today. Every joint hurts in fact, my bones hurt too. Nap was good but I can’t just do nothing so I’m out here in the office.

Yesterday work continued in the kitchen. Things are moving along, just slowly but I’m liking the look that is emerging. The wall color difference is due to lighting vs no lighting. The paint is called “After the Storm” and I have used it in every room of the house because of how lightening changes the color. Still have trim work, flooring, door, and another cabinet to hang. Then the credenza and glass door hutch will go into place.

Good time was had with DDs Kaylee & Amy in PDC yesterday. Lunch was good. It was all time well spent. I smile, they wanted mother/daughter tats… I am thankful the tat artist looked the way he did, cause if he hadn’t those tats would have happened. The back story… I’ve wanted a tat since time began but, in my day” good girls” didn’t get them. My father was very clear on it would not happen. Each time I’ve considered it since I can hear his voice say… NO, period! End of discussion.

Today we remember my dad, Rich Ogden, who passed from this life to the next in 2009. May he rest in peace. Seems like yesterday.

St. Norbert reminds us to welcome the bolts and lightening that allow us to change and reform our lives. Father, I pray that it will not take a lightning bolt to awaken me to You, but if it does, let me embrace its saving power.

Meditations for Each Day, pg. 221, The Worship of the Sacred Heart in Relation to the Love of God and of Our Neighbour A love that is not active cannot be genuine; it is only a passing emotion.

St. Boniface reminds us of Jesus’ words that there is little merit in loving and helping only those who love us. Jesus, help me to be brave enough to win the hearts and minds of those who do not yet believe in You.

Meditations for Each Day, pg. 220, The Sacred Heart and Holy Viaticum
John 15:13, Luke 23:43, NOTE: Holy Viaticum is the final reception of the Holy Eucharist administered to a dying person.

Scripture Reading for Day 5 of Dealing with the Enemy
Ezekiel 28:18-19 Because of the enormity of your guilt, and the perversity of your trade, you defiled your sanctuary. I brought fire out of you; it devoured you; I made you ashes on the ground in the eyes of all who see you.h 19All the nations who knew you are appalled on account of you; You have become a horror, never to be again.i
Job 19:25 As for me, I know that my vindicator lives,* and that he will at last stand forth upon the dust.g
*Consider rereading the last 4 days of the Ezekiel readings. I’m pondering these this week because of where it started and now where it appears to be ending. From the perfect bright shining star to someone with no eternal life due to choices made and the use of gifts given by God. We humans have a tendance (or so it seems) to begin with gratitude for gifts received, turning them into what we then believe is of our own doing.

Nice surprise last evening. Our son-in-law Kris dropped in for a visit. He was up in the area visit his friend Brian and will be leaving sometime tomorrow.

This morning I see the cpap doctor. Then the reflexologist, then the chiropractor. Wish they could just wave a magic wand and make everything better. Wishful thinking I know.

Birthday greetings to Gabe S. Have an awesome day.

St Francis Caracciolo used his pilgrimages to show the face and beauty of God to the poor and sick. Lord, wherever You lead me, let me never ignore a chance to bring word of your love and care to those I encounter.

Meditations for each Day, pg. 219, The Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Blessed Eucharist (John 6:58 As the living Father has sent me, and as I live because of the Father, so he who eats me, he also shall live because of me.) (Phil 1:21, Gal 2:20) The effect of Holy Communion on us should be similar to that of a graft upon a tree, whose life is thereby transformed and which begins to produce the fruit of the new shoot instead of the old trunk. We should no longer live the life of the old man, but that of the new, which is Jesus.

Scripture Reading for Day 4 of Dealing with the Enemy
Ezekiel 28:16-17 Your commerce was full of lawlessness, and you sinned. Therefore I banished you from the mountain of God; the cherub drove you out from among the fiery stones.f 17Your heart had grown haughty because of your beauty; You corrupted your wisdom because of your splendor. I cast you to the ground, I made you a spectacle in the sight of kings.g

St Clotilda teaches that even when disappointed by or separated from our biological family, we may turn to our Christian family. Father, help me to feel and act as a part of Your family, especially when I am unwillingly estranged from my earthly family.

Meditations for Each Day pg. 217, The Love of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Revealed in the Gospel It is a profound mystery that God should love man so much that He became a tiny infant. His entire life was motivated by love for us the moment of birth to the moment of death.

Scripture Reading for Day 3 of Dealing with the Enemy

St Erasmus reminds us that even in the midst of great difficulties and emergencies, God is our refuge. All-guiding God, when I am afflicted, lost, afraid, lead from the darkness of fear and confusion into Your hope-filled light.

Meditation for Each Day, pg. 216, The Necessity of Devotion to the Sacred Heart
It is the mystery of the immeasurable love of God that He became man, suffered and died for us. We should offer Him in return not only the affection of our hearts but also our adoration, gratitude, and the dedication of our entire lives to His service.

Scripture Reading Day 2 of Dealing with the Enemy
Ezekiel 28:12-14 Son of man, raise a lament over the king of Tyre, and say to him: Thus says the Lord GOD: * You were a seal of perfection, full of wisdom, perfect in beauty.d 13 In Eden, the garden of God, you lived; precious stones of every kind were your covering: Carnelian, topaz, and beryl, chrysolite, onyx, and jasper, sapphire, garnet, and emerald. Their mounts and settings were wrought in gold, fashioned for you the day you were created.e

Scripture Reading for Day 1 of Dealing with the Enemy
Isaiah 1412-14 How you have fallen from the heavens, O Morning Star,* son of the dawn! How you have been cut down to the earth, you who conquered nations!i 13In your heart you said: “I will scale the heavens; Above the stars of God* I will set up my throne; I will take my seat on the Mount of Assembly, on the heights of Zaphon.j 14I will ascend above the tops of the clouds; I will be like the Most High!”k
Hebrews 10:19-22 Therefore, brothers, since through the blood of Jesus we have confidence of entrance into the sanctuarym 20 * by the new and living way he opened for us through the veil,n that is, his flesh, 21 * o and since we have “a great priest over the house of God,” 22 let us approach with a sincere heart and in absolute trust, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience* and our bodies washed in pure water.p

June
•6th month in the year
•Flower, the Rose
•Gem, the Pearl
•The British Museum says that this month is named after the Roman goddess Juno- the god of marriage and childbirth, and the wife of Jupiter, king of the gods.
•The Catholic Church has dedicated the month to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. This month invites all faithful to meditate upon and venerate the immense love and compassion symbolized by the Sacred Heart. It serves as a profound reminder of Jesus Christ’s unwavering love for humanity; a love that endures beyond suffering and sacrifice.
