We should not be afraid of God, because He is our greatest benefactor and loves us infinitely. Because they think only of majesty and justice of God, some people keep themselves at a distance from Him as Adam did after he had sinned. This false fear of God dries up our piety and lessens our trust in His mercy. It can lead to moroseness, to scrupulosity, and to discouragement. It is true that the fear of God is recommended many times in Sacred Scripture, but it is filial fear which is intended, not servile fear. Servile fear keeps us apart from God. But filial fear is akin to love and brings us closer to Him.

Very nice Fall Fest over the weekend. Looking forward to seeing it through a camera lens in the next Cashton Record.
The boy is home, not sure for how long. The girl is in TX visiting. The rest of the children are in their homes with their family. Pray for Tom, poor decision & outcome. I wonder why he cannot make the distinction between cause and effect. Action and outcome. There’s a missing link in his thought process. I wonder sometimes if an exorcism should happen previous to adoption so that whatever demons were present previously are banished beforehand. Adopted children seem to carry such heavy baggage, some never being unpacked and dealt with.

St. John Gabriel Perboyre helped abandoned children in China, reminding us that Christian actions speak louder than words. Lord, lead me to help children and youth so that the next generation may be yours.

Our personal story… 44 foster children, 6 adopted children, 2 raised grandchildren, 2 biological (1 living) children. Today we have 22 grandchildren 18 living. Our lives have been rich and full. What God said all those years ago “quit the job, adopt those children, I take care of the sparrows, I’ll take care of you” happened. It was a done deal for me when the 4way medal changed colors and broke in half. It was not particularly easy, but not one day did we lack for the things that we needed. God kept his promise, I kept mine. Now my job is to pray for them. They have to make their own way to Christ. The foundation was laid; the path was established.

•By means of the Incarnation God comes to man so that man may return to God. God created man by an act of love to display and to diffuse his infinite goodness. But this relationship of love was disrupted by sin. Love became fear on the part of man, and it became justice on the part of God.
•The Incarnation, which is the coming of God among men that He might be loved more, requires that man in return love god and be obedient to His commandments. Since the infinite God could do no more for us than give us His entire self, it is only right that we should be prepared to make any sacrifice in order to prove our love for Him.

•The generous practice of total renunciation is not the only thing we can do in order to enter the night of the spirit; there is another no longer negative but eminently positive: the intense exercise of the theological virtues. Faith, hope and charity must be our support and guide in the obscurity of the night and, at the same time, help us to purify the faculties of our soul–the understanding, the memory, and the will–so that they may cling to God alone.

Lord make possible to me by your grace what seems impossible to me by nature.

(I’m going to have to chew on this on for a while.)

The week is coming to a close. As I look back, I realize the only thing I have accomplished does not include cleaning our home. This has got to change.

St Ignatius i his Spiritual Exercises on the two standards remains applicable to our times. We need only glance at the world to see that it contains two different kinds of people- the good and the bad, the enemies of Christ and His faithful followers. But there is also a third group, those who are indifferent and apathetic, those who think of their own comfort and convenience and nothing else. – their numbers seem to grow every year – belong to the rearguard of those who fight beneath the banner of Satan. That man is an enemy of Christ who has no generosity, no spirit of sacrifice, no desire to combat the evil which threatens to submerge the world. (Mt 12:30, ” He who is not with me is against me”) He who thinks only of his own convenience and remains indifferent to the spread of evil is not worthy of Jesus. One cannot be indifferent when faced with the alternative between good and evil, because indifference is tantamount to a betrayal. Tertullian said, “The Christian is another Christ.”

Good Morning!
Finally, I have reached a point where I can move slowly through this day. I have only a few set things that I need to accomplish at a few set times.
If you actually do read this blog, I’m sure you are wondering what in the world is going on with me. I’ve (as you can tell) had several things happen of late that have (so to speak) unhinged me a bit. This realization has me scrambling for my center. Which in turn became a light bulb moment that said my faith has become a surface thing or perhaps better described as maintaining. I don’t want to maintain; I want to grow. So, bear with me as I work my way thru this tangled mess.
