For those of you looking for a Devotional Commentary, the new Liturgical year begins on the First Sunday of Advent, November 29th – Jan 6th this year. Stations of the Crib: A Journey of Hope from Advent to Epiphany by Joseph Nassal may be a good way to start strengthening your relationship with Jesus. Your Lenten read (beginning Ash Wednesday, Feb. 10th) could be Lent & Easter: Wisdom from G.K. Chesterton. Leo Zanchettin has a series for the New Testament, beginning with several books Titled “Letters to the Early Church, Church in Transition, Church on the Move, and Revelations. This is a great devotional for Ordinary Time. Consider it. Most can be found on used book sites for a minimal cost.

Meditations for Each Day, pg. 420, “Give us This Day Our Daily Bread”
Ask not only for your own requirements for the day but for those of all our fellow men as well. Not only should we ask for out bodily food but for spiritual nourishment (Mt. 4:4) One must ask that our soul be nourish for it has its own life which is worn away by the daily conflict against sinful inclinations and by the constant struggle to achieve sanctity.

Please take a moment to pray for all the adult children who have walked away from the church to do their own thing. Ask God to give them knowledge of the sins they commit, clarity of the path back to him, and the willingness to be honest with at the least themselves and God. Pray that they don’t lead someone else down the path to sin.

Wonderful to see DS#4 last evening. He’s eastbound to a new home. I’m excited for him and hoping he finds exactly what God intends for him to do with his life.
I’m off shortly for the normal Monday morning routine. The man will leave shortly after me.

Looking for my set of 4 soft sided gospel books in a cardboard sleeve. I will need to call my nephew (Joe) and see if I loaned them to him.

Pope Leo underwent surgery for lung cancer. Apparently they found a nodule that looked suspicious to them. I’m concerned about this surgery. Personally, I think they should have zapped it with radiation before cutting him open and taking the lower lobe. It has been my experience once active cancer has air to it, goes wild. My guess is in a few months he will have cancer elsewhere in his body. Another guess… they will have already started choosing who they want in there next. Yes, conspiracy theorist here.

Hmmm Lenovo & Motorola Qira… anyone know anything about this?

Have some housekeeping to do with emails, grocery lists, etc. Then off to hospital to switch out g’parents for baby Jonas. or if the doc says mom can come home to bring mom home.

Not the greatest sleep night. Weird dreams, restless sleep, bad Cpap equipment. My mind is rambling around bouncing off the walls of my brain with apparently little coherency Nuff said.

Venial sin does present obstacles to the growth in perfection, but it does not destroy sanctifying grace in the soul. It does not leave a stain on the soul as mortal sin does. So spoiled by this awesome weather. Winter will be here before I know it so am taking advantage of it as long as possible. The man started the yard clean up yesterday. Planted some new bulbs (Firefly Mercantile) Workshop workers, maternity ck-up run, & Boté pk-up scheduled for today. Will be very nice to have my car back. The man’s is still in the shop, hopefully today it will be ready. PCCW mtg on Saturday in New Lisbon, should be a nice time. The fall gathering is always beautiful. Perhaps today will be the day to get the bathroom deep cleaned.

Although the trees are not nearly as colorful as last year, the color has arrived.  I am always amazed at the beauty of nature during the change of seasons. 

We’ve been keeping ourselves busy Mon. – Thurs. With a bit of Amish driving.  Okay, so a bit could be interchangeable with a lot at this point in time.  We do try to keep Fri. – Sun. for ourselves, most weeks this works. 

Last week we went to Uncle Richard’s funeral. It was agreed that we needed to see more of the family besides gathering at funerals.  We’ve convinced ourselves that we are so busy there isn’t time/or energy to get together more often.  I personally think this is one of the reasons family is breaking down.  Add that to family members moving to areas far removed from the original home places we have agreed to cut ties that would have bound us more firmly together.  This thought process allows us to avoid having conversation regarding toxic family relationships which is now encouraged by the modern world’s “cut off what makes you unhappy” theory.  Not something that brings about healing and understanding and successfully cutting off that side that makes us unhappy.  Not that I don’t understand the distancing as I, myself, took that measure 20 yrs ago after realizing it was impossible to understand the “I know how to live this way and don’t want to make changes” attitude.  Nuff on that subject. 

This week sees us making auto repairs on both vehicles.  Some have thought we should just trade it in and get another.  At our ages that is not something we would even consider due to the high cost of SUV’s being purchased/or leased.  We certainly don’t need retirement burdened by payments.  Much simpler to just pay the bill and be done with it.   

The RV needs a very deep cleaning.  We need to just hire it done and get it over with.  Our old bones are not capable of reaching and doing what needs done. It’s on the list before the end of November. The house is in the same shape but more doable for me. 

My blog is still up and running.  www.inthewildsofwisconsin.blog I initially started it to keep the adult children apprised of what is happening with us and our thought processes.  I think they find it boring as none seem to read/comment on things.  But that’s okay; they can’t say they didn’t know. 

For the most part, our health is good.  Roger has been keeping up with skin cancer therapy, diabetes, hearing loss, and other age-related issues.  He’s good on all borders.  I’m dealing with lymphedema, arthritis, hearing loss, and other age-related issues.  Gotta “love” the golden years!   

The grandchildren are growing up and leaving home.  I think they all have joined every possible thing they can and keep functioning.  They appear happy, healthy, and well educated.  But much too busy to make important connections with grandparents.  But they won’t realize that until we’re gone.  Then perhaps they will read the journals that we left behind and realize we were not half as old fashioned as they believe us to be. 

Definitely time to figure out what’s for lunch.

in Gethsemane it was not His body which was lacerated by scourges and nails, but His soul which experienced the agonizing vision of the sins and ingratitude of the human race. We have all been called to ascend to Heaven with Jesus and Mary. Let us remember, however, that only the innocent and the repentant can be admitted into Paradise. Do we carry the daily cross which God has entrusted to us and accept the burden with perfect resignation to His Holy Will? We must belong altogether to Him, love only Him, and work only for Him.

I have been blest to wake another day. One must keep reminding themselves that waking to another day is a blessing from God for we are not assured another day; We are not even assured to complete the day after waking. Check out these verses; Proverbs 27:1, James 4:14, Matthew 24:42-44, and 1 Thessalonians 5:2-6. In today’s world we make the assumptions that there will always be another day. We forget we are not immortal, that death comes to all. The thing we are assured of is eternal life if we make the choice to live for Christ and do what is asked for in making that choice. Baptism, leaving behind the old self and becoming new in Christ, confessing sin and making effort to avoid sin, placing God above earthly things; the list goes on. It is not enough to just believe and continue on with your previous life. Change must happen. We must take up our cross each and every day, rain or shine, convenient or inconvenient, humbling or exalting.

Morning! I’m headed out the door in less than 10. Wanted to get this post up before I left. 0600 pk up 1 guy to the smrt bus, 0745 teacher to school, 0800 man to radiation. Then I hope I have the rest of the day to whip this house into shape starting with the laundry. 1800 pick up to take a guy home to Boscobel. Did I mention I hit a deer yeasterday? Thank God no real damage. The man’s Suburban went in for a wheel bearing and my SUV was already there for injectors. Now I hear voices saying just get a new car. I will not. The repair is still cheaper than a new car. In this day and age I will not be stuck with high interest and a car payment. At 71 I just want to live in my paid for house, drive my paid for car and live the life I choose. Oh and FYI do not buy a car over 2021… they have been engineered so that you MUST have a mechanic for even simple things like bulbs and batteries. Be smart. Life a less complicated life. Buy an older in need of TLC house and slowly make it into yours while you pay it off. Don’t fall into the gotta keep up with the Jones vice. Live simple, love God, your family, and contribute to your community.

Monday’s here again. Happens each week just about this time. I look at the to do list and think will I ever get this completed? So, in order to get that accomplished I’m off and running. Great visit yesterday with my sil Cheryl, it is way too long between visits. Please continue to pray for my son Tom that he get it this time.
