12 Steps of Recovery

  1. We admitted we were powerless over ____ that our lives had become unmanageable.
  2. Came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity.
  3. Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood Him.
  4. Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves.
  5. Admitted to God, to ourselves, and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs.
  6. Were entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character.
  7. Humbly asked Him to remove our shortcomings.
  8. Made a list of all persons we had harmed, and became willing to make amends to them all.
  9. Made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others.
  10. Continued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong promptly admitted it.
  11. Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God as we understood Him, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out.
  12. Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to other, and to practice these principles in all our affairs.

IF coming along, I’m in wk 22 of 25 weeks. I feel fairly good. The program needs lots of water and lots of movement to work. Not to mention one being faithful to the eating and fasting periods. The weight has been a slow prosess for me. The loss of inches has done well. I’m thinking this is something I will continue to do for at the least 25 more weeks.

NT is time consuming and expensive. It is however working so in both cases it has been worth it. Both of my feet have feeling in them. The wearing sock feeling is still there but they are not tight in feel. It is a struggle to keep up due to my busy daily schedule. But doable as the program is only 90 days long. I will not miss the suppliments.

Cpap, I am sleeping better, with fewer events each hour. Using this machine is a pain in the patoot… that’s as nice as I can be about it. I still believe there must be a non invasive/none machine way of taking care of this. It is daunting to think this is a forever thing and worse knowing they are keeping tabs on me.

The one thing I have learned during all of this is I don’t like being restricted in any way shape or form. Although things are working, I’m not so sure it is worth the expense or the hassle. I’m not so sure this is where I should concentrate my efforts in life.

Auction today at the produce building. Fresh donuts will be there by 6:30 this morning. Lots of sale items in the lot. Its looking to be a windy day with cooler temps. This begins the weekly auctions at the Produce Auction. https://growersproduceauction.com/

Scripture Readings for today Wisdom 2:1-22; Psalm 34:17-23; John 7:1-30
Scripture Verse Matthew 4:4b “One does not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes forth from the mouth of God.”

Are you still working on that list I asked you about yesterday? Keep adding to it today.

The drum came for the printer yesterday. That made me happy. Still waiting for the labels.

Time to get the front porch cleaned and ready for Summer. Not time to take off the acrylic panels because we all know the minute that happens it will snow.

So I gotta ask… how goes it with you and Jesus? Been working on the relationship? Time consuming isn’t it? Knowing him changes things… well just about everything doesn’t it? I’m challenging you today to get out your journal (if you don’t have one get one) make the list… everything you wouldn’t want Jesus to know about you. Yep, I’m serious… all those things you think make you less get ’em on paper, all those bitter things you hold inside, write ’em down. Get it out of your head and onto paper. When you think of more later, write them down.

NT… more improvements seen.

Cpap… my thoughts haven’t changed on this, but I use it.

In all honesty I am feeling a bit betrayed by my country these days. All the cover up regarding J6 so that Bidenites, Progressives, and WOKES get their way. The shenanigans perpetrated by the repubs to get back at them. And the Never Trumper/Biden putting out shady ads that on their face are fairly true but linking them to something that has nothing to do with the ad itself or is already a done deal not a pending one. All this back room under the table crap needs to stop. The media needs to quit shaping their ideas and opinions into news. I’m tired, tired, tired of all this garbage.

Be sure to check out who the remaining presidental candidates are. There are more than you think. Too bad the news media chooses to let you think there are only 2 left in the running. Don’t be a sheep… get off your duff and go do the research on your own. Don’t let anyone convince you that a vote cast for anyone other than the two front runners is wasted. What are you looking for in a candidate? Which one will lead the nation? Which one is working for you the citizen? Which one emulates your beliefs/values/etc? No vote is ever wasted… don’t buy the lie.

Our deepest sympathy to the families of those who lost their lives. Although the roadside memorial is something wonderful and kind may the “english” who put it up understand the Amish don’t do this sort of thing. They believe things like this prevent those left from healing the sorrow and forgiving the injury; Commemorating a tragedy is not how they want to remember thier loved ones.

Prayers for my friend J whose mother in dying and for her mother’s journey into the next stage of her journey to Jesus.

As I stubble around here this morning after losing another hour of sleep (because some idiots in Government decided to mess with nature) I realize I will be losing 1 hr of sleep every day for the next 9 months. Not to mention the restless time of no sleep because i go to bed an hour earlier at night. Nor the waking now in the middle of the night because I have had my normal sleep time and now thrash about disturbing my husband’s sleep until I finally nod off for a couple more hours of restless sleep. Makes no sense, but then the Government has never made sense.

IF on track, another # gone. Eating time 4-8 today.

NT routine in the process. My toes have felt so cold the past few days. Last night my legs ached like they did 20 years ago when I went through horrific leg craps that sent me howling in pain. I need to see if I can start some magnezium, that worked the last time.

Cpap on and off all night long due to DST

Copy work completed and ready to deliver. Letters addressed and ready to mail. Books collected and ready to deliver. Dryer running. Clothes in basket ready to fold and iron.

I best get a move on.

Miracle brought to my attention by a friend

Washington mayor’s sister healed by Jesus

In 1817, Ann Mattingly, the widowed sister of Thomas Carbery, mayor of Washington D.C., became seriously ill, and was eventually diagnosed with cancer. In 1824, as her health had seriously deteriorated, Father Teissier, superior of the Baltimore seminary (Maryland, USA), asked many of his friends to pray for her.

Someone contacted Prince Alexander of Hohenlohe, a German priest and reputed miracle-worker. The latter recommended a novena, and replied that he would offer mass on March 10, 1824, at 9 a.m., and that he wanted everyone to join him in prayer. On March 10, Mattingly woke up at 3 a.m., to allow for the time difference between Europe and America. A mass, attended by a dozen people, was celebrated in her room by Father Dubuisson, a French Catholic priest and Jesuit missionary to the United States. The dying woman could barely swallow the host.

Suddenly, all present heard her exclaim from behind the bed’s curtains: “O my God, who am I that you should grant me such a grace!” She had been cured instantly. She then got up joyfully, dressed herself and started striding around the room.

Thirty Protestants converted to Catholicism after learning of this miracle.

Adapted and translated from Jean-Marie Mathiot, Miracles, signes et prodiges eucharistiques, du début du christianisme à nos jours, Hauteville, Le Parvis, 2018, p. 243-244.

Let us pray:
Come then, good Shepherd, bread divine, still show to us thy mercy sign. oh, feed us, still keep us thine; so we may see thy glories shine in fields of immortality. O thou, the wisest, mightiest, best, our present food, our future rest, come, make us each thy chosen guest, co-heirs of thine, and comrades blest with saints whose dwelling is with thee.
Saint Thomas Aquinas

Encyclical letter “The Church draws her life from the Eucharist”

I would like to rekindle this Eucharistic “amazement” by the present Encyclical Letter, in continuity with the Jubilee heritage which I have left to the Church in the Apostolic Letter Novo Millennio Ineunte and its Marian crowning, Rosarium Virginis Mariae. To contemplate the face of Christ, and to contemplate it with Mary, is the “programme” which I have set before the Church at the dawn of the third millennium, summoning her to put out into the deep on the sea of history with the enthusiasm of the new evangelization. To contemplate Christ involves being able to recognize him wherever he manifests himself, in his many forms of presence, but above all in the living sacrament of his body and his blood. The Church draws her life from Christ in the Eucharist; by him she is fed and by him she is enlightened. The Eucharist is both a mystery of faith and a “mystery of light”.

Whenever the Church celebrates the Eucharist, the faithful can in some way relive the experience of the two disciples on the road to Emmaus: “their eyes were opened and they recognized him” (Lk 24:31).

Ecclesia de Eucharistia – Introduction.

Silent, peaceful morning in town

Take away from Mass “purgatory is a gentle pence for our committed sin” In thinking of every sin I have committed time spent in purgatory is a gentle reminder of what it could have been (hell) had I not confessed and repented. Sometimes one gets fairly smug when for whatever reason previous sin is brought up… “I’ve been forgiven of that” is a common reply, it’s forgiven. Yes, it has been forgiven and because of that mercy you recieved from Christ it won’t be the reason you go to hell. But the effects of your sin did not stop. Think about that before you blythly go off and once again do something that is sinful… what will be affected by what you do. Avoid the near occasion of sin… there in lies the answer.

Many thanks to PM for her kind words this morning, made my day.

Yesterday at St Columbkilles in DBQ, IA I said goodbye to my friend Patty M. As I waited for the funeral mass to start I noticed that her youngest son’s friends came in group to give him support. What a wonderfully kind gesture that was to him. I also noticed how respectful P’s sons were to those around them and the kind gestures they displayed even in their sorrow. In those gestures I saw my friend and the influence she had on them. As I presented myself for communion I took one last chance to touch the coffin where my friend’s body laid. My last fairwell gesture to her. In that moment I realzied it was just her body, her soul had already left. Although I will never see her again in this life, perhaps we will meet again in the next. RIP my friend for I am smiling thinking about you, Kathy H, Carmen, & Kathy S perhaps having a cmom gathering there. Pray for us.

I must get it together today and work on my bible study assignment.
