Gosh I have been so lax and inattentive
Somedays I just feel overwhelmed and bombarded
In retrospect… more spiritual warfare

Can we talk about that? Spiritual Warfare…

Defined:
Spiritual warfare refers to the conflict between the forces of good and evil in the spiritual realm, where Christians contend against Satan, demons, and other spiritual powers seeking to influence human hearts and actions (Ephesians 6:12)

It is not a physical battle but a spiritual struggle that manifests in temptations, doubts, and moral challenges. The Bible describes this warfare as a fight against “rulers, authorities, powers over this present darkness, and spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places” (Ephesians 6:12)

Internal Struggle: Christians experience an ongoing battle within themselves between sinful tendencies and the guidance of the Holy Spirit, striving to live righteously (Romans 7:21-23)

Spiritual warfare also involves resisting false teachings, deception, and influences that oppose God’s truth (2 Corinthians 10:3-5)

The conflict extends beyond human interactions, involving unseen spiritual entities and the broader struggle between God’s kingdom and the forces of darkness (Genesis 3:1-7; Isaiah 14:12-15)

•Practices and Tools
Christians are encouraged to equip themselves with spiritual armor and practices to stand firm against evil:

•Prayer and Fasting:
Communicating with God and seeking His strength to resist temptation

•Scripture Study:
Using the Word of God as a guide and defense against deception

•Faith and Righteousness:
Living according to God’s principles and submitting to His authority (James 4:7)

•Other traditions include exorcism, anointing with oil, and laying on of hands as part of spiritual warfare

The ultimate goal of spiritual warfare is to maintain faith, resist sin, and align one’s life with God’s will. While Christians may face persistent temptations or spiritual attacks, the victory is assured through Christ, who overcame evil through His death and resurrection (1 Corinthians 15:57) Spiritual warfare is thus both a personal and cosmic struggle, emphasizing vigilance, prayer, and reliance on God’s power to overcome evil.

In the holy name of Jesus, I ask the Lord to bind and cast out any and all evil walls around my heart. I especially ask that the wall of ________ (name the kind of wall: unforgiveness, hardness of heart, stubbornness, unrepentance, coldness of heart, etc.) be cast out. I reject it; I rebuke it; and I renounce it. I ask for God’s forgiveness for any sins of mine which contributed to this wall. I ask that the Blood of Jesus wash over my heart, cleansing, purifying and sanctifying. As the Scriptures say: “I will give you a new heart and place a new spirit within you, taking from your bodies your stony hearts and giving you natural hearts.” May I have the heart of Jesus. (SMC)

In the Holy Name of Jesus, and through the power of His precious blood, I ask Almighty God to bind each and every demon coming against me (or my family) or trying to affect me (us) in any way. In Jesus’ name may they be bound and cast out. I ask God to render them all deaf, dumb, blind and powerless. In Jesus name, may He make them incapable of tempting, tormenting, afflicting or harming me (us). I ask the Blessed Virgin Mary to spread her mantle of protection over me (us). I ask the Holy Angels to surround me (us), and with the sword of Truth, keep out the evil spirits. I ask the Blood of Jesus to wash over me (us) and protect me (us). May it wash over this place, making it a sacred space, free of all evil. (SMC)

O Jesus our Savior, my Lord and my God, my God and my all, with your sacrifice on the Cross you redeemed us and defeated the power of Satan. I beg you to deliver me from every evil presence and every evil influence.I ask you in your name, I ask you for the sake of your wounds, I ask you for the sake of your blood, I ask you for the sake of your Cross, I ask you through the intercession of Mary, Immaculate and Sorrowful. May the blood and the water that flow from your side wash over me to purify me, deliver me, heal me. Amen. (Fr. Gabriele Amorth)

August Queen of Heaven, Sovereign Mistress of the Angels, thou, who from the beginning hast received from God the power of the mission to crush the head of Satan, we humbly implore thee, to send thy holy legions so that under thy command and by thy power, they may drive the devils away, everywhere, fight them, subduing their boldness and thrust them down into the abyss. Who is like unto God? (Quis ut Deus?) O good and tender Mother, thou willst always be our love and our hope. O divine Mother, send Thy holy angels to defend me and drive far away from me the cruel enemy. Holy Angels and Archangels defend us, keep us. Amen. Indulgenced prayer. St. Pius X on 8 July 1908.

Lord Jesus Christ, I ask in Your Most Holy Name to remove any evil spirits that may be affecting my generational bloodline. If any curse or malefice has been introduced by a member of this family, or from outside the family, I ask that you cast it out and cleanse us with Your Most Precious Blood. I willingly forgive my ancestors or any others who are at fault and I ask you to absolve them of this sin and bless them. I repent of any evil that I have done to introduce evil into our generational line and ask for your forgiveness. I particularly pray that you would cleanse our generational bloodline of all curses, illnesses, sicknesses, addictions, financial curses, divorces, abuse, [here add any evil that persists in your generational bloodline] and all evils handed down through the generational line. May Your Precious Blood wash over us and cleanse us all. May these evils end now, through your infinite mercy and the power of your Holy Cross. (SMC)

Know you are prayed for.
