St. Cajetan teaches us that we should all seek to live the simple, faithful, prayerful, helpful life of apostles. Holy Spirit, give me the courage and selflessness to live as a disciple of Christ.
Meditations for Each Day, pg. 314, Almsgiving. We need the mercy of God, and Our Lord has told us that He will be merciful only to those who show mercy to others. We need god’s forgiveness for all our sins, and the Holy Spirit assures us that our iniquities are redeemed by almsgiving. Daniel 4:24, Therefore, O king, may my advice be acceptable to you; atone for your sins by good deeds,* and for your misdeeds by kindness to the poor; then your contentment will be long lasting.”
