Mulching is happening in the yard. I’m liking the way it looks. Bridal wreath shrubs have started flowering. They are so beautiful in full bloom. The pond, the porch, and the fountain need cleaning. It is a never-ending battle. I peruse the todo list knowing it is so long and we are so slow.
Sort of like repenting, we know our list of faults, sins, etc grows long, and we look at it and think oooh that will take too long, that one will be too painful, I want that one gone but I don’t want to do what I know God is going to want me to do. Jesus asked in the garden to let the cup pass Matt:26:39 And going a little further, he fell upon his face, praying, and saying: My Father, if it be possible, let this chalice pass from me. Nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt. He then shouldered his duty and continued with God’s will. We wimp out. Today I pray to do what I know I must do without complaint or wimping out.
Headed south this morning,a few are going to see relatives and a couple of other drops along with a couple stops at the girls.
Need to be back before noon as I have a 1 o’clock.
Excellent weekend. A couple of unexpected things came up. All worked themselves out or will as time moves on.
Got to thinking about the choices we make in life. I don’t know about you, but I always seem to be a bit daring with little thought of “what could go wrong?”
I find, at times, little consideration is given to the long-range ramifications of my bold, hasty, emotion filled choices.
Which brings me to what is really on my mind… critical thinking. Does anyone teach that these days?

Alan & Anna M have a new son, Jonathan, 9# 10oz, I was very fortunate to bring them home yesterday.
Rehearsal dinner was a fun time. Seeing faces I hadn’t seen in ages and meeting people I’d never seen before. I’m looking forward to the day.
On another note, how’s it going? We’ve been so busy around here that we haven’t seen or spoken with many for some time. I’ve found the only thing I miss about FB is knowing what friends/family are doing. I could remedy that by dropping a line, however, in many instances I no longer have a snail mail address. Perhaps one day I will send a text asking for email and snail mail addresses updating my contact book. You could save me some time (if you are reading this) by sending your contact information to me so that I can update it.
Book...”The Catholic Family in the Modern World” by John A Hardon S.J. I purchased this book in 1991 when it came out. I’d been married for 17 years. Several years previous to the purchase I had the privilege of hearing Fr. Hardon speak in a Catholic Church in Iowa City, IA. This man’s talk changed my life. I began searching for more. When the book came out I had to have it. It changed the way I viewed marriage and children. It changed the way I view Mother Mary. In simple language, his talk and the book saved me from certain hell. The introduction sucked me in. I’ve read this book so many times the cover had to be taped on. Excerpts…(Introduction) “the survival of whole nations is at stake as we see family life disintegrating.” (p.9) “When we speak of the fall of man, we must remember this means not only the fall of man as an individual but the fall of man as a social being.” (p.36) “We can be only as much at peace with others as we are at peace within ourselves. We cannot give what we do hot have.” You can find this book in the Marian Catechist Bookstore at the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in La Crosse, WI 54601, pbx# 608/782-0011. The last time I purchased it, the cost was around $4. If you purchase it online from a used book store you will pay triple that.

My Godson/nephew marries tomorrow. Please pray for him and his wife-to-be. Ask our Lord and Savior to touch each of them in a special way during the marriage ceremony. Give them strength and fortitude to live their new life as one committed to God. May the sacrament of marriage bind their souls together with the Holy Spirit as they move forward together in this life.

me, I crawled out of bed an hour late, looked outside saw the sunshine, grunted saying ” rain’s coming”, grabbed a cup of coffee and headed here to the office.
Dalihas were planted yesterday I believe, the man handled it.
I’m looking round this office thinking to myself that it needs to be cleared out, a new ceiling put in and the walls painted. To myself I say, should be finished on Saturday. In reality it would likely be finished next week sometime. The mind is young, the body is old. These days the speed of the mind means nothing during physical labor.
I’m off to keep myself occupied today. There are several rooms in this old house that could use a good cleaning.
If you don’t feel close to the Lord, if he seems distant, keep showing up. Prayer is a gift of grace, God always pours out grace, whether you feel it or not. Put your hope in Jesus’ faithfulness as well.
Found an old Mortal Combat video game. It works… Imagine that!
2 cast iron sinks and an old mobile home furnance, saws all shapes and sizes, and other tools as well. Doors, toys, 100 yr old barn board table, flat screen TV, fitbit, Verizon hot spot, chromebook, kindle 10, key board for tablet, wall murphy desk, lamp globes, dolls, toys, books, baskets, games, old wooden chairs, quilt rack, you name it.
My son D has 120 acres of rock, sand, gullies, cati, and rattle snakes. Today, many things were in bloom. The view was breathtaking. The border patrol is working overtime. Yesterday, at this check point, 200 entered legally and probably more than that illegally.
This is not forgiving country. Water is scarce, heat can be unbearable, shade isn’t often found. Yet, trash is everywhere from humans who passed through.
We arrived here this evening at 2130 hrs, Mountain time. The Americana Inn staff is always so very welcoming, it feels like coming home. Unless my eyes are deceiving me it looks like the Inn has received a paint job. Or perhaps it has always been sage green and cream. Regardless, the look is welcoming.
Today’s drive was punctuated with many road accidents. It wasn’t because of a high volume of traffic, I believe it to be because the highway speeds are 70-75-80 along with the tire debris left by overheated tires that peel off in the heat. Indian paintbrushes colored the medians along with other wildflowers.
We stopped in Sweetwater to order a Whatta Burger…our favorite jalapeno cheeseburger can’t be beaten. We don’t have Whatta Burgers up north so our yearly trip south is always a special treat. The sweet tea really quenches your thirst.
Oil rigs (many) were drilling, pump jacks pumping. The lowest gas price we saw was 2.82. The pump at home said 3.59 when we left.
Businesses here are feeling the lack of willing workers in the service industry. Love’s truck stop had 1 cashier and 17 waiting to pay to turn on the pumps. The housekeeping staff was lacking as well. The Super 8 in El Dorado was experiencing a lack of staff as well as needing a facelift and replacement of equipment in their breakfast nook.
Sinus’ are loving the low humidity and have been draining all day. For this I am thankful as it has been a long winter with stuffy ones up north.
Looking forward to a good night’s rest and seeing the children and g’children in the morning.
Attended Mass last evening at St. Matthias in Cascade. Beautiful Church with, very interesting history.
This morning I ponder with help from WAU…Who is this who enters the city, meek and riding on an ass (Matt 21:5) Who is this, who consecrates bread and wine that becomes his Body & Blood, offering himself for our forgiveness (26:27-28) Who is this in the Garden of Gethsemane (26:39) Who is this who refuses to defend himself (26:63-65) Who is this who is mocked, spat upon, and hailed “King of the Jews” (27:29) Who is this, beaten, whipped, crucified, crying out, and giving up his spirit (27:46-50) Who is this battered body laid in a tomb (27:60) Jesus may I come to know you ever more deeply.
