What a delightful gathering at the Kircher abode last evening. M & V… again fab food, good convo, prayer, and fun. Don’t know how you pull this off each and every time but you do.
Another month is closing. Time moves so very swiftly. Are you seeking Jesus? I know, I’m a broken record but knowing him is so very important and with time swiftly passing… Is there a reason you don’t take/make the time to get to know him? Perhaps you don’t know anything about him, I would love to sit on the porch and tell you his story and how it intermingles with mine.
In the Catholic Tradition, we look at the 13th Station of the Eucharist… Emmaus… Luke 24 Two of Jesus’ disciples walked along the road to Emmaus talking about Jesus. A man joined them on their journey they spoke about Jesus together. They join together for a meal and realize as this stranger breaks the bread that HE IS JESUS!
Early morning death message delivered. It was shocking for the giver (I could hear it in his voice) of the message and for the receiver (I could see it in her face). May God have mercy and grant eternal life.
In the Catholic Tradition we look at the 12th Station of the Eucharist…”The Last Supper”…Luke 22 Jesus took the bread, said the blessing, broke it, and gave it saying “THIS IS MY BODYGIVEN FOR YOU” “THIS CUP IS THE NEW COVENANT IN MY BLOOD SHED FOR YOU” Those men at the last supper saw it themselves, passed it down person to person knowing full well exactly what Jesus meant, and knowing they must pass it down exactly as he meant it. Today when you walk into the Catholic Church you see the sacrifice of the mass as it was done then. HIS Body, HIS Blood for you.
The man is on “Bike to Mary”, the rain is to last all day, it will be a cold, wet one for the riders
Wonderful time at the Kircher abode last evening. The food was outstanding and the conversation lively.
Have to run to E&E Sales this morning in Hillsboro with no other plans for the day. Looking forward to the down time. I’m certain the house could use a good cleaning and am also certain the good cleaning house fairy will not arrive to do it.
The Seven-Sister climbing rose is in full bloom! Beautiful pink clusters. The Spirea shrub is loaded with beautiful purple blooms. Yellow blooms are calling attention to the flowers by the pond and the orange day lilies hold their regal heads above them all.
In the Catholic Tradition we look at the 11th Station of the Eucharist… Bread of Life Discourse… John 6:48-56. After Jesus had fed the crowd it wasn’t long before they came asking him for more bread. It is this time he takes the time to reveal that no bread can give them life except the living bread (He himself in the Eucharist” He speaks calmly and forcefully so that we can have no doubt that the Eucharist is his actual “BODY & BLOOD”. Many of those who followed him walked away. They could not handle what he was telling them.
As I look at this scripture today I think of all the people who talk themselves into believing it is only a representation. No where did Jesus say it only represents his body he BOLDY & FORCEFULLY said… “my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me and I in him” Perhaps in our human minds this is all too much and as did others we walk away from the truth about the Eucharist or perhaps we try to make it into a representation instead of what it actually is.
We humans think so much of ourselves that we fail to realize we are in the presence of God. That we hold on our tongues the real body and blood of Jesus Christ, 2nd person in the Trinity, Son of God-Son of Man. Who took our sins to the cross with him and paid our price for those sins. “Vanity of vanities… vanity of vanities; all is vanity… one generation passeth away, and another generation cometh…” and in those passed generations we (with satan’s help) have convinced ourselves of how important we are and of our high standing while we mock those of humble beginnings and humble hearts… those who know they are nothing in the presence of God.
So the next time you que up for the Eucharist and have failed to confess your sins, and you reach out your cupped hands while wearing your immodest/trashy clothing, think about who will be coming into you. That before you stands a consecrated priest holding the body & blood of Christ and you in your sinfulness are too important to kneel, too important to open your mouth and take him on your tongue, too important or at the least believe you hold equal standing… or sadly enough, the priest doesn’t give you opportunity to confess, kneel, and receive in this manner… THE BODY OF CHRIST.
Coffee good thanks to the man who set it up before he left yesterday
Hanging porch plants are watered
The dog is tethered out back
This morning I’ll let Gibbs out for my friend, then, I have pick ups for the Amish workshop, a trip to the Amish shoe store and back home to debone the chicken baked last night, finish up laundry, sweeping, and vacuuming. My closet should be sorted thru and all the too big, too small, will never wear items removed. Later I will go to my friend VK’s for supper. The Bike to Mary participants will be there this evening.
In the Catholic Tradition we look at the 10th Station of the Eucharist…Multiplication of the Loaves… Mark 6… this scripture foreshadows the Last Supper… Jesus gives thanks, blesses, breaks, and feeds his people. He continues to do this today thru the Most Holy Eucharist.
Up and working on my dispute with the River Link tollway in KY. Will make separate post on that at later date.
In the Catholic Tradition… 9th Station of the Eucharist… The Wedding Feast at Cana… John 2 Jesus performs his 1st miracle, demonstrating that he is God and has power over substance. Changing something lesser into something greater. This pattern follows at every Mass where simple bread and wine are turned into his body & blood. Jesus invites us to another wedding, a spiritual one between himself and his church.
The man sleeps. His 2nd eye surgery went well. He was a bit more sedated than the last time but a good nap handled that.
I retired early and of course woke up way too early. Left leg tenderness and left side of neck pain says I should sleep on my back and not on my left side. Of course, it could also be saying other things and perhaps I need to have it checked out. I’ve never been much of a Dr. person so will see how that goes.
In the Catholic Tradition… 8th Station of the Eucharist… St. John the Baptist points to the Lamb of God… John 1 John is clearly telling us his cousin Jesus in the Lamb of God making the connection with the sacrificial lambs of the temple for Passover. It was commanded in Exodus 12 that the family of the Passover lamb eat its flesh just as we are told to eat his flesh and drink his blood if we desire eternal life.
This year my Spiritual Adoptee from Opus Sanctorum Angelorum is Fr Barry Dowd. I’m not quite sure how many years I have been doing this but my hope is, my prayer will somehow make a difference for him.
Looking forward to an easy day. Need to finish reading my library books and get them returned. Looks like HillPoint/Loganville is flooding. Water is up in Black River Falls.
Happy “35th” Birthday DD#4…AEB, hope your day is awesome!
2nd eye cataract surgery for the man this morning.
In the Catholic Tradition…The 7th Station of the Eucharist… House of Bread… Micah 5:2, Luke Jesus was born in Bethlehem… literally means House of Bread… fulfilling a prophecy in Micah 5:2. A hundred years later we read in Luke of Jesus who was born in Bethlehem. Christ himself tells us he is the Living Bread from Heaven. Born in a town called the House of Bread, laid in a feeding trough, to be sacrificed for our salvation and giving us his flesh and blood to eat.
Very nice time up at St John’s Summit Ridge yesterday. 145 years of bringing the faith to the faithful. Our parish is small, a neighboring larger parish priest services us. For this we are grateful. Children enjoyed the games while adults enjoyed great conversation and all enjoyed fabulous food, especially the strawberry & ice cream sundaes.
“My past, O Lord, to Your mercy; my present, to your love; my future, to your providence” St. Padre Pio
I draw your attention to the above quote as I ask you if you have received the Sacrament of Confession of late. Are you concerned about how long it has been since the last one, or perhaps the sinfulness of the content you will share? Sometimes one just needs to bite the bullet and get it done. Then you promise yourself to keep it current so that you don’t distance yourself from God. I posted recently about the purchase of “The EXAMINATION Journal” do yourself a favor and get one or make one of your own, its an important tool. https://examinationjournal.com/ Then find a confessor and use him frequently to keep your soul in tune with God.
