St Jerome, patron of Librarians, teach us gratitude for those whose learning benefits and advances all of us. Lord, lead me to the teachers and the writings that will strengthen my faith.
Today we remember Kimberly Fowler, may she rest in peace. We also remember Roger W C. who passed on this day in 1993, may he rest in peace.
Meditations for Each Day, pg.391, Christian Modesty
We are often obliged, in the ordinary course of living or by reason of our position, to see many things which could be dangerous to our spiritual welfare. There are many ugly things around us, although sometimes externally beautiful, which we cannot help seeing. What are we to do? We must see, because very often we cannot help it, but we must never stare. In other words, we should never fix our eyes on anything which would seriously disturb us. If we experience the beginnings of any such disturbance we should look elsewhere at once, raising our minds to God in silent prayer. Delay could cost us our purity.
Divine Intimacy, pg. 959, God’s Collaborators
Take me, O Lord, and make me worthy of collaborating with You in the work of extending Your kingdom.
Every type of apostolate is a collaboration in the one work of redemption and sanctification which God has been developing through the centuries. No one bur God, who is Sanctity itself, the Creator and Source of all grace, has the power to redeem and sanctify. (1 Tim2,5) All others, the greatest saints, and even our blessed Lady, are apostles only insofar as they collaborate in Christ’s work. Therefore, neither he that planteth is anything, nor he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase (1 Cor 3, 6.7) The field certainly must be cultivated before it can produce fruit, but the farmer’s work is not enough; there must be rain and sunshine and the season must be favorable.
Scripture Reading for Day 30 of Fruit of the Spirit
Philippians 4:8 g Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is gracious, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.*
1 John 4:18-19 There is no fear in love, but perfect love drives out fear because fear has to do with punishment, and so one who fears is not yet perfect in love. 19 We love because he first loved us.
Weight Loss Challenge for Catholic Women Day 1 of 5
Good Morning!
Looks like the funeral for my Uncle Richard will be on the 9th of October. My hope is to be there.
Above you will see a Weight Loss Challenge, I’m going to try this and see how it goes. I put the link there just in case you wanted to know more. There is no cost for this 5-day challenge. Today I pick up and drop off workshop workers, take a challenged young man to an appointment in Boscobel, drop off diapers to another challenged person’s home, drop off meat that has been stored in my freezer to another person, leave a message with a man about a chimney being ready to do, pick up and deliver parts for someone else, ck and pick up name cards if they are ready, and take a young man home to Boscobel as he is ending his work week early. Lots of miles but all duly compensated for fuel/time use.
Best of all I am readying myself to pack for a much-needed weekend away with my VDF in Marquette at a lake side cabin. We’ll check out the shrine in Endeavor, attend Mass/Confession, and just talk and look at how life is going. I cannot wait to see her; it has been way too long. Meanwhile, the washer/dry run, car needs washing/vacuuming, hair still needs cutting, etc.etc. Oh, and please pray for Dennis, ds#4 whose divorce was finalized yesterday. My heart hurts for both of them. Blanca will always be my daughter-in-love. Hopefully she won’t disappear from our lives. Haley & Hudson could also use prayers for this huge adjustment in their lives.
Here we are, last day of the month. Are you ready to begin a new chapter in your life tomorrow?
Know you are prayed for.
