St Theresa Couderc, founder of the Cenacle Sisters focuses on retreats for lay people. God, help me to heed your invitation to come apart and rest with you.
Meditations for Each Day, pg. 385, The Sacrifices of Life
How many sacrifices do we make in order to do good or to become holy? Our first concern must always be to save our soul and those of our neighbors, because it was for this that God created us. What sacrifices and mortifications are we prepared to undertake?
Divine Intimacy, pg. 314, Blessed Are the Peacemakers
O Holy Spirit, help me to establish my heart in peace.
Only one who lives under the influence of this gift can truly judge and regulate everything according to God, so that nothing, not even suffering, can disturb his interior peace, for he knows that even the most painful happenings are permitted and ordered by God for the good of His elect.
Scripture Reading for Day 26 of Fruit of the Spirit
Romans 14:19 Let us* then pursue what leads to peace and to building up one another.q
2 Peter 3:9 The Lord does not delay his promise, as some regard “delay,” but he is patient with you, not wishing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.h
The man and the boy will be golfing today for fundraising purposes for Sacred Heart School. It would have been awesome to have other family members join them. Perhaps next year. I finished up a copy job, printed out a few emails that need to be delivered, also have an Amazon purchase that needs to be delivered, and MUST purchase copy paper. I opened the last ream. Also, must purchase diapers size 6 for someone else and deliver them. The car needs washing and vacuuming. I still need a haircut. Am happy to say the dry highlighters I ordered 6 months ago are finally off back order and will be delivered today. I’m thinking they are probably going to be discontinued so I ordered 5 of each color to hold me over. I’m certain my life will have ended before I use up that many.
A new month is about to begin. Have you thought about ending this month with a good confession? Writing a much due letter to loved ones? Journaling? Apologizing even if it wasn’t on you? Forgiving even if you don’t want to? Taking a seriously good look at your life, the direction it is going, and write down changes you personally need to make or at least steps you recognize need to be taken, to get things going in the right direction? The new liturgical year is just around the corner; wouldn’t it be nice to begin that year in a good place in your moral life?
On another note, do you have too much stuff? Could some of it be given away to someone who needs it? Donated to a good cause? Sold for extra income? Think about how great it would be to have less clutter in your life.
While you are at it… have/are you put enough away for retirement? Consider a $1,000.00 emergency fund. Also consider setting up some savings accounts for health issues, household repairs, car repairs, etc. Even if it is simply an envelope in a drawer with cash in it. I know times are tough but consider eating at home instead of out, making your own coffee instead of purchasing it, walking/biking/carpooling to work. Keeping one day as shopping day instead of running out each time you need something. Just thoughts that run thru my head. I’ve removed may apps from the smart phone. It has cut down on impulse purchases. I have turned off all AI that is unnecessary. Use a dictionary, write your own papers/letters, etc. It may be time to reconsider the disservice we do to ourselves my letting something else be our mind instead of using our own
