Morning Offering given

God of grace, in the story of creation,
you made the earth a garden
and entrusted it to us to till and to keep,
a place of peace and beauty
where we could walk with you.

In the story of redemption
the one who died for us was buried in a garden,
and there you raised him up
to greet us with new hope and risen life.

In the story of the Church,
you tend us as a garden
a place of careful pruning and abundant harvest,
where we can work with you.

Meet us, we pray,
in all the gardens where we go
for nourishment, refreshment and prayer,
through Jesus Christ our Lord

Amen

Village quiet and peaceful

St. Nicholas of Tolentine reminds us how all travelers who sincerely see god’s protection, will have it. Watchful God, thank you for providing me with a refuge whenever I need it; stay close to me, Lord.

Birthday greetings to Asa Maren

Scripture Reading for Day 10 of Fruit of the Spirit
Colossians 3:23 Whatever you do, do from the heart, as for the Lord and not for others,
1 Peter 3:11 must turn from evil and do good, seek peace and follow after it.

Meditations for Each Day, pg. 361, The Creation
•God is infinitely perfect in Himself and has therefore no need of creatures for His eternal happiness.
•Creation is eternal love expanded into new loves “heaven & earth, angels & men, and all created beings
•Creatures should for a ladder by which we climb to God, who should be the first thought, ain, and love of our lives

Divine Intimacy, pg. 1046, #347 The Night of the Spirit
the difficult and bitter purification called the night of the spirit is necessary to extirpate the roots of imperfect habits
The purification of the soul begins with the night of sense, which by putting the soul into obscurity and depriving it of all sensible consolation, frees it from attachment to creatures and to material goods; but this night is completed only by the night of the spirit, which, annihilating the soul in its spiritual faculties, succeeds in destroying in it every imperfect habit. (I’m going to have to chew on this on for a while.)

The week is coming to a close. As I look back, I realize the only thing I have accomplished does not include cleaning our home. This has got to change.

Know you are prayed for.
