Praying for rain. Grass is starting to turn brown. Berries are small. Some have started cutting 2nd crop of hay. Windrows don’t seem as full. Tree leaves have started to turn over.

How’s the faith life? Succulent or parched?

Bird song has begun

Something about mornings, perhaps it’s something about new beginnings that appeals to me.

Windchimes tinkel in the breeze. Limbs sway, leaves flutter, grass rustles, and pond water laps the shoreline in harmony with the wind.

No traffic sounds, or artificial light, marring the morning. Sunbeams glow just below the horizon, giving promise of the day to come.

Wildlife wanders out of hiding to begin their daily search for sustenance. Perhaps sustenance is what I, too, search for at this hour of day.

Rain came last evening, gray skies lend one to think more may come. Thanksgiving for the much needed moisture is given. Thankfulness for the cooling breeze is offered. All to the creator of this beautiful world.

St. John the Baptist Catholic Church Summit Ridge WI

145 yrs of serving the Summit Ridge Catholic Community.

How “Blest” we have been for the priests assigned to us over the years.

The faithfulness of parish members is one to mark the calendar with. St. John’s may have 20 registered families, and as many more faithful Saturday night Mass attendees.

I was asked a question today…

Tell me where you see or feel the presence of God.

I answered

In all honesty, I am struggling to see him right now. That I continue to search and hope must be where I find him. Otherwise, why would I continue to hang on?

The last three years have been “one damn thing after another.”

I am a simple non important person in the mix of things. That this barage of things continues to work at breaking me down is a sure sign that I need to hang on no matter what.

It must be a sign that my faith matters more than I believe it could.

The only one who would work so hard to make me stop believing is satan. If my faith matters that much to satan, it must be more important than I believe it to be.

Therefore, I walk thru this desert looking for something to quench the dryness. Something to show me I am on the right track. Something to affirm what I know to be true.

Drove home last night, and will return to IA early Saturday morning to pick up a couple of people and bring them home. I’m thinking to hibernate until them There are some things in my life that need to be re-evaluated. One would think at this stage in my game I would have it all together.

The Catholic Church defines it:
Objectively, it stands for the sum of truths revealed by God in Scripture and tradition and which the Church (see RULE OF FAITH) presents to us in a brief form in her creeds,
Subjectively, faith stands for the habit or virtue by which we assent to those truths.

Prayers for Lavina M please, she is now in treatment for cancer.

Matthew 5:20-26…when’s the last time you mended (fix, patch-up, restore, repair, piece together) a relationship? Hard isn’t it? The idea of having to go back into something that was obviously not a good situation for you can be terrifying. Jesus isn’t asking you to do that. He is asking you to forgive (work on forgiving) the people/persons in your life (even the toxic ones). He wants your heart to be open and ready for Him… something that isn’t possible if you’ve hardened your heart against someone else. He wants your heart open, soft, pliable, ready for the seeds of love he is going to plant there. He cannot plant if your heart is hard, filled with pain, distrust, anger, fear, and all those other things. He is not asking you to go back, return, or resume any toxic relationship. He is asking you to clear that junk out and make room for him. The only way to clear it out is to touch it again, take the wall down, look it over, assess the damage, and be willing to change your thought process. Reconciliation is the opportunity for you to repent of your contribution to the difficulties in your life and thus leaves you more open to mending the damage. It is hard, yes it is. However, it is well worth the time and energy.

Lutheran Rosary, yes they have one, a Lenten one, a Longworth one, and what is called the wreath of Christ. All are interesting. Please note Luther said the rosary his entire life using the pre-Trent Hail Mary. This is something not talked about much. I often wonder how many Lutherans know about it.

Today think about how
You are the salt of the world
how you can enrich the world around you
putting hope at the heart of the Gospel message
showing the world that trials and trouble will not have the final word

Resurfacing of Irish Ridge Rd has started. The road is closed from Weister to Parker. This means Miller’s Greenhouse, Miller’s Produce, Bent & Dent, Kaufmann’s Buggy Shop, Kaufmann’s Variety Store, Kaufmann’s Greenhouse, Miller’s Replacement Windows, Miller’s Sawmill, 2 other sawmills, the buggy blanket shop, 3 greenhouses, Vernon Sales are almost inaccessible until the 15th of the month. No traffic has been requested, and barricades are up. This project has been long in coming. The past 12 years have been long ones. Looking forward to no cavern potholes.

What is the “narrative” going to be on this one?

Who’s writing this all down so that history is correct? You know an internet search isn’t going to bring up any details of this in a few years.

I am smiling, yes I am. Along with shaking my head and wondering if the “woke” society will comprehend what is really going on or if they will continue to allow themselves to be brainwashed. I cannot for the life of me understand how someone can believe something that had to be implemented by brainwashing techniques. Using common sense even when everyone else is telling you something different is difficult, but necessary. Know yourself, define your boundaries, talk to God, and trust him. Don’t fall for the if it is right for you. Look at the whole picture, think it through. remember right and wrong… ask yourself, does this bring glory to God? If not walk away, yes it will be painful.

Are you devoted to loving God? Seriously think about that. Are you devoted to him? “Devoted” focused on that particular thing/person almost exclusively. Working to achieve its goals, placing its needs/wants before your own. “Exclusively” restricted/limited to the area of concern. Again I ask are you devoted to loving God? I’m getting ready to head out to Eau Claire for an early morning appt. Hopefully, this won’t take all day.

Interesting voicemail on the landline. A voice yelling for my cell phone number. Leave your name, number, and message; I will call you back. Although I have one, not everyone does… just leave a message.

Hoping for rain, we need it.

Interesting devotional read this morning. Brings me to wonder how I approach Jesus… is it with honesty and humility or guarded and suspicious. Am I struggling with giving up a bad habit/sin or accepting a Church teaching? Am I suspicious of those he sends to teach me? What if I lose my status, status is all I have left right now? Regardless… all He really cares about is truth. Give him the truth and he will take care of the rest. Ahhhh but you say, if I give him the truth he will then expect me to go forward on that. Yes, he will. But what if I know I cannot go forward right now. It is too much work, it is too involved, it is too hard to make these changes, yah dah yah dah… He gets that, just take one step and move forward. He is the way… Read Tobit today.
