I like to take this time of year to reflect on the past year. We are fully retired but busier than when we worked full time. Our children are grown all living away. Some married, some not. Our grandchildren are no longer little. All attend school, some college, other working.
The world has changed. It is trending towards selfishness. Adults too busy, keeping their children too busy. Leaving little if anytime for service work in their church (if they even attend one) or community. Little if any entire family downtime.
The economy is inflated. Most scrambling to stay afloat. At least here in middle America.
Disposable is the norm, from products to friendships to community to family. That word seems to be an applied attitude when getting ahead is involved.
Boundrieless is another word that seems to have invaded the country. There doesn’t seem to be any set boundary on anything these days except not hurting someone’s feelings.
I am thankful I lived in a world with boundaries.
I am thankful for my husband, children, grandchildren, and friends.
I am thankful for my church and church family.
I am thankful for my health, stable finances, and my home.
I am thankful for the simple, self-sufficient lifestyle we live.
I am grateful to know Jesus who has watched over us and supplied everything we needed and protected us from things we didn’t and was there for us during the times we didn’t listen.
Know you are prayed for.
