Very enjoyable Jubilee Mass yesterday at the diocesan center in La Crosse. Bishop Battersby celebrated Mass with couples from the diocese who are celebrating 50 yrs of marriage this year. Dinner was served shortly after Mass. It was a very enjoyable time.
In the Catholic Tradition… Christian Optimism… two kinds… 1) worldly, those who expect nothing but pleasure from life “carpe diem” is their motto. Sooner or later their optimism is turned into pessimism. 2) Christianity- natural goodness, blessings of life, normal human affections, love of beauty… all forces that can be channeled to lead us towards holiness. Sin alone is essentially evil, it offends God and separates us from him. It is a deliberate act in which we find pleasure and continued satisfaction… we can however wash it away with real repentance and sacramental confession at which time it leads us back to God. Christianity Optimism makes everything good and meritorious, even suffering.

Morning Offering given… Lord, grant me tenacious winsome courage as I go through this day. When I am tempted to give up, help me to keep going. Grant me a cheerful spirit when things don’t go my way. And give me the courage to do whatever needs to be done. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

The man sleeps… he waited up for me to get home last evening. It was after midnight when that happened. Good drive, no issues.
Liking my new cut and reading glasses. It was time for a face lift.
Today we attend the Jubilee mass and dinner at La Crosse. It is for couples that have/will celebrate 50 yrs of marriage. Those years went by so fast! I’d do it all over, God blessed me with a wonderful husband.
Today I listen to “Dark Horse” and “Sounds like Reign” on YouTube.
In the Catholic Tradition let’s talk about “Talents”… in the parable it talks about money as talents Matthew 25:14-30. Today expand your mind and think of not only monetary/material talents but intellectual/moral (intelligence, personality, & ability) and supernatural (divine grace, vocation, extraordinary powers). God gives each of us talents to be cultivated for his pleasure and in accordance with his design. Have you recognized and cultivated what he has blest you with? Are you grateful for them? Have you cultivated them? You have been given so many gifts, maybe they are not the same as your friend or colleague but are your personal gift from God. He wants you to recognize them and cultivate them for his glory. He has given them to you because somewhere in his plan they will bring people to Christ. Take the time today to recognize them and make a mental note about how you have cultivated them so far in your life and how you can expand them for the glory of God.

Niccoló Tommaseo, a poet once said, “Life is only a remembrance, a hope, and a passing moment.”
Antonio Cardinal Bacci said “This is so true, life which preoccupies us so much is only a point of time which continually passes and evades us. We live on memories and on hopes, but in reality, our life is no more than an elusive period of time flowing into the ocean of eternity. Yesterday we did not exist, and tomorrow we shall be no more. Yesterday God called is forth from nothingness, and tomorrow He will summon us from this fleeting existence in order to reward or punish us in eternity. It is the great mystery of life that so much depends on a vanishing moment of time. We have two alternatives. We can direct our course in life towards God, in which case we shall one day be happy with Him forever. Or we can travel in the opposite direction in pursuit of sensual satisfaction and transitory worldly success, in which case we shall one day be rejected by God and shall be doomed to everlasting unhappiness.”

BIRTHDAY GREETINGS to my friend SS. Hope your day is awesome. Congrats to E&E and M&M on their nuptials.
So Walz is the pick for VP? Really? I mean look at how ineffective he was in MPLS during the riots. Is the entire USA going to look like this?

So we have a Pres. candidate who won’t go to the border; frankly nonexistent her entire term as VP and she chose someone for her VP who is ineffective and not transparent. I think not… and this doesn’t even take into account their stance on baby killing

or their stance on elderly killing.

Ugg, no thanks.
Today in the Catholic Tradition we look at St Dominic of Guzman, The Luminus Mysteries are said, and we discuss more on Almsgiving by looking at the question Christ asked in Matthew 25:31-46? Did you feed & clothe the poor? Your eternal glory depends on it.
Time to get a move on if I’m going to accomplish a few things this morning.

1st Wednesday… Let us remember St Joseph today with the Joyful Mysteries of the Rosary. Some also remember Our Lady of Perpetual Help
In the Catholic Tradition let us remember the Poor and Almsgiving. Until the end of the world there will always be the weak and the poor whom we are responsible for. It is not useless nor degrading to do these things. It allows us to give without expecting in return and to do so humbly without grandiosity. It allows them to receive with humility and without the fear of having to pay something back. Both the giver and the receiver learn how to be humble and appreciative.
Slept decent and for almost 10 hrs. I needed it. Thankfully it happened. Will have a few things to pick up and drop off for tomorrow’s wedding other wise the day is mine to explore an area I’ve never ventured to before.

The weekend… visiting with old friends… am glad to be home… we are very fortunate to be healthy and mobile… for this I give thanks. My thanks to those who put up with me.
Allergies have kicked in… stuffy nose, watery eyes, oh the joys of post-nasal drip.
Let’s talk about Jesus. Is he a close personal friend of yours? Have you spoken to him lately about your life? Have you been reading about him and his life? The Bible is a great book to do that with.
In the Catholic Tradition let’s talk about Sacred Images. For those who are confronted by the no graven image group Ex 20:4-5… this scripture speaks to false gods/idols, not the real God and his saints. Ex 25:18, Num 21:8 Ps 113:16, Council of Trent, Session 25, and the historian Eusebius talk about adorned symbols and veneration images indicating the presence of God. From the beginning they wore halos, thus they were venerated and you knew of God. This is not a novelty invented by the Catholic church. We must remember not to be excessive in our homage our preference should always be Christ/God/Holy Spirit first.
