The first recorded celebration of Columbus Day in the United States took place on October 12, 1792. Organized by the Society of St. Tammany, also known as the Columbian Order, it commemorated the 300th anniversary of Columbus’ landing.
1937… Due largely to lobbying by the Knights of Columbus (originally conceived as Italian American Heritage Day), Columbus Day became a national holiday.
1946… United Nations Charter is signed with no mention of indiginous people.
1971… It was moved to the 2nd Monday in October. Giving everyone a 3 day weekend.
1977… the UN first proposed an indiginous people day.
2020… some deeming Columbus not worthy of commemoration have renamed it indiginous people’s day.
2021… found the 2nd Monday declared Columbus Day & Indiginous People Day.
NOWHERE IN HISTORY HAS THE 2 MONDAY IN OCTOBER BEEN NAMED EDUCATION DAY. Unless, of course, you are the all-knowing, all-seeing, progressive Wokes of WCCU. Who by signage have declared it “Education Day” and a federal holiday.
Makes one wonder what else they have taken on to change.
Time to move money.
Pssst… Education Day is celebrated every year internationally on the 24th of January.

Coffee aroma infiltrating the house. The taste is ambrosia.
12 years ago, I came across the most wonderful smelling plant. The giant blooms looked like trumpets. The colors were glorious. I studied it and found it was 100% poison. I wanted one. The man brought one home a couple weeks ago. It sits on my front porch. I will try this winter to keep it alive. It over winters in a dark basement till spring.

Angel’s trumpet is a very poisonous plant, causing intense hallucinations, seizures, and even death in the most severe cases. This plant can also cause poisoning through various routes. You can get poisoned by touching, inhaling, or eating almost any part of an angel’s trumpet. The intoxicating scents are variously described as musk, lemon, mint, lily, hyacinth, citrus, jasmine, gardenia, and more. Regardless, the fragrance is most noticeable on warm summer evenings. (WI Hort. EDU)
We humans are fickle and vain. We want beauty, comfort, adoration, and power. We want it knowing it will poison us. This plant reminds me of that defect in my character.
Tread carefully, my friend. satan entices with beauty and power but can only survive in dark dormant places.

Happy baptism anniversary to Amber, Amy, & Dennis. May your relationship with Jesus thrive.
Slept in. It was needed.
Pkd up book to read yesterday. What are you reading these days?

Woke with those awful leg cramps. I knew I hadn’t had enough water yesterday.
Hoping expedition is ready by lunch.
Once daylight time goes off on Nov 5, I am hoping it never comes back. If you are with me in this thinking; send a blue index card to your congressman and Senator with “No more daylight savings time” written on it. Sign your name, and mail it off. Let’s get rid of this nonsense once and for all.

The geese flew through this past week. The barn swallows, humming birds, and robins, too.
It is time to put away the yard art. The squirrels have been busy burying things in the woodchip mulch. It is time to decide where to over winter the house plants from the porch. Time to gather the items needed to begin winterization of the porch.
I’m certain winter snowfall will come next month with many storms and cold temps.
Have a wonderful day. Know you are prayed for.
Someone once said…
“Bitterness is like a toxic brew that we mix for our enemies just to end up drinking it ourselves.”
