Good sleep last evening almost 7 hrs. Must have been overtired from all the long nights and days of late.

In the Catholic Tradition… Purification is the first step in Love of God.
Scripture warns us “the just man falls seven times” Prov 24:16 Sin is the greatest evil because it offends God, our highest good, and happiness. 1 John 1:8 Unless you repent, you will all perish Lk 13:5 “Repent, for the Kingdome of Heaven is at hand” Mat 3:2, 4:17. We must make satisfaction for our sins, therefore, by voluntary cooperation with the grace of God. Although God is infinitely good and merciful, He will not purify us without this cooperation on our part. We can be purified by accepting the unavoidable tribulation of life with perfect resignation and by offering to God our own voluntary mortifications and sacrifices. Below you will find definitions so we are all on the same page.
Purification = the removal of contaminants/extracting/ making spiritually/ceremonially clean
Satisfaction = compensation/reparation of an injustice or wrong.
Cooperation = assistance/ ready compliance
Mortification = the action of subduing one’s bodily desires.
Resignation = the act of retiring/giving up/accepting

Short night but forward we go

Borrowed Stolen from a friend’s post on another website…8 steps to becoming a saint. The following are 8 things noticed by Carlos Acutis that all saints did…
-Go to Holy Mass and receive Holy Communion daily.
-Spend time daily in front of the Blessed Sacrament.
-Pray a daily Rosary.
-Read Scripture daily.
-Go to Confession weekly.
-Pray for the grace to become a Saint.
-Make sacrifices and self-denials frequently.
-Ask your Guardian Angel to help you at all times.
I’m wondering if I could do this for 30 days. What I mean is, could I do this for 30 straight days or blow it off when it became inconvenient.

In the Catholic Tradition… Knowledge & Sanctity… The object of knowledge is truth, and all truth comes from God, but it dwells in created things like a reflection of divine light. We must trace this reflected light back to its original source. Have and promote learning but…more than anything else cultivate in your soul that sanctity that will be your greatest treasure in life. Be humble (1 Cor 8:1)

Trip home last evening went quickly 2.5 hrs in length. Heavy downpour between Lancaster & Boscobel. Cars were parked on the shoulders as it was hard to see. We kept going. A couple of Amish buggies and a motorcycle caught in the downpour. That would have been a wet trip.

Biden steps down and encourages everyone to back Harris. You can’t tell me that wasn’t the plan for the entire campaign. As stated elsewhere who would do that. She has accomplished nothing under Biden in 4 years. In fact, when told something was her job she refused to even look at it. Nope, not capable of doing the job. She is a puppet on the end of someone else’s string. I see Soros was quick to back her… his string is long and attached to Obama… Nope not interested. Sigh… it is going to be a long 104 days.

In the Catholic Tradition, today is the Feast Day of St Mary Magdalene, patroness of converts, penitent sinners, and people ridiculed for their piety (to name a few). Let’s talk about “holiness” (sanctification)… the state of growing in divine grace as a result of Christian commitment after baptism or conversion. Pope Pius XII defined it as “the intimate awareness of loyal subjection to God, who is adored and loved as the beginning, end, and norm of every thought, affection, word, and action.” Bacci said “If we wish to be perfect Christians, we must cultivate this king of consciousness of our dependence upon God… It is not true that holiness can be attained only by a few select souls,… so that ordinary goodness is sufficient for people like ourselves. This type of attitude leads to tepidity… a short and easy step to sin itself.” Scripture says… Lev 11:44; 19:2; 1 Pet 1:15-16; Mt 5:48.

On another note… what’s happening in your world?

What a wonderful gathering we had today. Hogan, Houlihan, and Cummings made their entrance.

Thank you, Amy & and Kyle, for hosting. It was the perfect setting.

Volleyball fun for all.

Lots of 1st timers, we welcomed them and hope for their return next year.

Family Reunion Day… Cummings/Hogan, Cummings/Behan… looking forward to a fun day! T-time 8am Filmore Golf Course

In the Catholic Tradition… Road to the Cross… Bacci speaks to this… The way of the Cross is the only road that leads to Heaven. Our Lord gave example. We must ascend our own Calvary if we wish to imitate and follow Jesus. Suffering should be a source of consolation for us. It is useless to flee from the Cross, it follows us everywhere. The best thing one can do is offer to God, the trails of daily life. At times we will meet with exceptionally strong temptation, it may be necessary to impose extra penances on ourselves to better make our way.

“Up–Awake” once again “W.A.Y. T.O. E.A.R.L.Y.” I should be sleeping in, lolling around a nice warm bed but apparently THAT is not an option.

This morning I gather items needed to head off to a family reunion tomorrow. I am nowhere close to seeing that happen.

Please pray for our eldest son who seems to be experiencing a rough time right now. He is feeling left out of the family and doesn’t understand why. Since I have no issue with him I cannot answer his questions. I’m not even sure if he has broached the subject with his siblings frankly, I’m not going there. I have asked them what their issue is and they have declined to respond.

Prayers for our youngest daughter and her husband as they venture out on their matrimonial journey. They are experiencing the normal issues of becoming a family unit. It is hard to remake boundary lines with family once you have married and are committed to your family unit’s health and well-being first. Perhaps that is a subject for future blogging. So if you have any suggestions along those lines feel free to send them to me. Commitment, finance, spiritual life, letting go of adult children, navigating the in-laws, etc.

In the Catholic tradition… What is your dominant passion? You must know what it is in order to combat it determinedly, for otherwise it will lead you into one sin after another until you are eternally ruined. (Bacci pg 285) How to combat it…
*Fervent Prayer
*Daily Examination of conscience
*Weekly (fortnightly) confession
*Daily (frequent) communion
*Avoidance of the occasions of sin/employment of the necessary means to overcome sin.
*Performance of good actions
*Determination to fight and to conquer
There can be no half-measures for the only alternative to victory is defeat.

I don’t know about you, but for me, it is a daily battle and it is necessary for me to do the daily examination. Recently I found & bought a book regarding this. Visit ExaminationJournal.com for more on this book.

Sleep was elusive.

The entire porch was opened last evening. Nice to have that done. Looking forward to spending time out there relaxing with good conversation. Next up- getting the patio in order.

This weekend is family reunion. The man is looking forward to golfing early Sunday morning.

The toner came for the copier… very quickly. Will get those projects done today.

The RNC has been interesting to follow. Another interesting thing on the Democratic side is the push to nominate Biden before the Democratic convention. Who are they afraid will be nominated at the convention if this doesn’t happen before. It’s laughable to think the VP could handle the presidency. She wasn’t able to handle the border when put in charge of it. Actually I’m thinking it is time to cap costs associated with running for office. This out-of-control spending has prevented very good options from running. Maybe all advertisements should be in the form of public service announcements with only the candidates speaking for themselves. Perhaps campaigning should take place on the back of train cabooses with only the candidates speaking for themselves as they traverse the nation. Perhaps localized debates in the small towns of the nation during the trips cross country.

In the Catholic Tradition, we look at Our Passions… Our passions are not essentially sinful. they can open the way to evil, but they can also lead us towards perfection. Everything depends on how we control and direct them. They are impulses which are at the same time valuable and dangerous. It is a hard thing to control and to direct our natural inclinations. It requires perseverance, sacrifice, and the grace of God, for which we should always pray. Let us be vigilant I the control of our passions. As soon as they tempt us to do anything contrary to right reason and the divine law, let us renew our resolutions and implore the help of God. (Antonio Cardinal Bacci)
