Village waking

Coffee excellent

There is a new baby boy on the ridge this morning. Mom and baby are doing fine. Dad needs to buy a new hat, as his old one has gotten smaller overnight.

Belated birthday greetings to DD#2 T. I hope you had a wonderful day. I see OK had a perfect score at the elections, with every county going red.

I’ve taken to listening to NPR News since the election. They always send me into fits of laughter over how they try to explain why their preferred presidential candidate failed to win the election. Today they are blaming UNEDUCATED whites and Latino men. Their inference appeared to be they were not intelligent enough to make a good decision. Perhaps it is time for the left-leaning democrats to realize people did not want a woman in office who had slept her way to the top (while accusing her opponent of poor sexual behaviors), doesn’t know her background heritage, lies just about everything, and anything, thinks she’s in the theaters by changing her accent depending on who she is around, and well you get the picture. Crass as the president-elect may be HE at least knows who he is, what he wants, and has plans to get there.

Books… looking for new audio and printed… suggestions welcomed

The hand, gaining, still numb and tingly but better.

Today I’m off to the fall gathering of the PCCW. We are hosting today with St. Pat’s.

Later I will be emptying the hall and hall closet as work is about to begin on the ceilings up there.

Let’s look at adultery and what scripture says it is Matthew 5:27-28
27 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery’; 28 but I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
The Catholic Church tells us adultery is a “Breach of Fidelity”. Adultery isn’t solely defined by physical infidelity, but any action that betrays the promise of love and fidelity made at the altar. This includes emotional infidelity, a significant concern in the modern age where technology blurs boundaries and bridges gaps. Virtual relationships, online dating, and cyber infidelity fall under this umbrella.
The Catholic Church in the Modern World by J Hardon is an excellent book that addresses this subject. Former VP Pence was laughed at while in office because he refused to meet alone with a woman. Insightful man. Sin first begins as a thought.

Lastly… we all fall short. Recognize, repent, and begin again.

I enjoy waking in the darkness of predawn before the light has rimmed the horizon as well as enjoying the twilight of late afternoon, as the darkness descends, enveloping the backyard in shadows that creep across the vegetation until all is dark. These times give me pause to contemplate the day before it begins and critique things as they close the day.

Coffee is never better than at dawn when one can smell the brew wafting through the air before toes hit the floor; something that stirs the memories of mornings gone by.

Today we travel north to my 3rd cousin’s funeral. She was younger by 15 years; I remember her as a small child, a high school graduate, and a bride. Scripture (2Macc 12:46) tells us it is a holy & wholesome thought to pray for the dead. In doing this we are reminded even venial sin, carelessness, and rapidity, will one day be punished with terrible severity. As a result, we are encouraged to lead better lives.

Know you are prayed for.

Open O doors and bolts of my heart
That Christ the King of Glory may enter
Enter O my Light
Enlighten my darkness
Enter O my Physician
Heal my wounds
Enter O Divine Fire
Burn up the thorns of my sins
Ignite my inward parts,, my heart
with the flame of thy love
Enter O, my King,
Destroy in me the kingdom of sin
Sit on the throne of my heart
Reign in me alone
O my King and Lord

The village is waking

Coffee is strong and hot

The “Election”
I watched much too late into the night
I smiled as the newscasters were trying to wrap their minds around what was happening
For those old enough to remember the phrase “Drinking the Koolaide”
I think most of them had and were finally realizing most Americans do have a brain and know how to use it. Contrary to what they had been told, the general American public were not cattle being led to the slaughter.
Our job now
Continue to pray for our leaders
Continue to clean out the rot, the debris, and throw open the windows
Letting in the fresh air and the cleansing winds
May we always notice what is really happening and speak out
May we always use the brain and common sense we have been given
I await the changes that will come

Fall is here
Cool-weather greets me each morning
B&G raked the yard. I am grateful to them. The trees have finally lost their leaves.
Soon harvest will be completed
Winter will arrive
Perhaps then we can make the time to REST, RENEW, & RETURN to our simple path

Pondering… “The same degree of mercy will one day be shown to me that I have shown to others”

Pray for yourself, for others, your country, your leaders, and your enemies.

Looking for a slower day today.

Be sure to vote for the person who will work for the good of the whole. The person who is strong enough to stand up for what is needed regardless of personal loss. May God bless America, may the Holy Spirit lead the people’s conscience, and my your Guardian Angel whisper in your ear the way you should go. Most important of all… may you listen and do.

Sympathy is extended to my 2nd cousin Pat Hagen, whose daughter Amy passed away. Her funeral will be on Friday in Nelsonville.

Standard, normal, God-given time has returned. May it never leave again. Have you ever stopped to consider that perhaps we could be restored to a simple, slower-paced, family-oriented life by taking the 1st step and living in real-time; in time with nature, and the rotation of the earth?

Went to urgent care yesterday in regard to: the pain in my leg. No blood clot. Now stop whining and get on with it. Have decided to try sitting on bar stool and resting foot on leg of table.

Maquoketa Valley High School play – today. We will drive down after mass.

Online tire shopping today.

COME NEAR, MY CHILDREN, DO NOT BE AFRAID.

Lord,
You know my life
what worries me,
how I feel,
what I think,
what I long for,
what I lack,
and what I desire.
In moments of darkness,
You are my light;
in the storms.
You are my peace:
in sadness.
You are my strength;
in loneliness.
You are my companion.

The new liturgical year begins on the 30 of this month. Perhaps it is time to do some intentional praying between now and then, as in setting your watch when it vibrates stop everything, pray one simple, one-line prayer. “Jesus, set your seal upon my heart.”
