St Martin de Porres (Patron of Race Relations) reminds us of God’s universal love and His desire that we love one another equally.

Ponder from blessed Maria Theresia Bonzel, SSFPA: “All that happens is permitted by God’s holy will. It is only the crossbeam of self-will that makes the cross.”

Something on Facebook quoting Romans 8:17 caught my eye the other day. For anyone who may have seen that post, please take the time to read the entire Chapter 8, as the meaning of verse 17 changes significantly when it stands alone.

Good Morning!
The calendar page has been turned to November. There are 59 days left of 2025. The 2026 Planner will need to travel with me now. Since my focus this year will continue to be on Jesus and improving my relationship with him, I purchased the JMJ 2026 planner from TAN Books.
It didn’t take my body very long to slip into standard time and sleep 6 straight hours as if I were dead. In DST, more than 3 consecutive hours were difficult. I’m back in sync with the natural flow, and I revel in it.
Today, I should receive the round labels I ordered and be able to complete a copy job. Online Labels does an outstanding job and is reasonably priced.
The coming week looks to be full. That happens this time of year with Thanksgiving in the wings.
The man has completed winterizing the porches. Perhaps there is more that could be done (caulking, rolled insulation, moisture barrier, etc), but it won’t be. It is time to finish the kitchen. You know the project that was started before the 24-year-old boy graduated from high school. I’d like to see it completed before I die. We’ve grown older, are less capable of “doing it ourselves”, and still hold the mindset that hiring someone to do something we could do ourselves is just not going to happen. Perhaps the boys should come home for a weekend and get this done.
Adoration, Rosary, and Catechesis are the 3 things needed in the Catholic Church to begin a renewal of the faithful. Without these 3 things in place, one cannot begin. It is impossible to teach the faith if the person teaching wasn’t taught correctly.

Morning!
Friday has arrived
I’m headed to Iowa for lunch with my DD#1

BOOKS… “Follow the Crow” by BB Griffith is the 1st in a series I am reading now. “Driftless Identy”, 4th in the Driftless Series by Sue Berg is in the wings. “River Gold” 5th book by Jeff Nania is on my wait list. Berg and Nania are local authors, and excellent at what they do. Are you aware of all the Native American Authors out there? I’m trying to make my way down the list.

Let’s talk about:
•church pews… have you noticed how low to the ground they are (or can be)? How little space there is between them? As I age, I’m noticing this more and more and have a tendency to attend Mass where the pews stand taller and wider apart. I can’t kneel like I used to, and having a higher pew with more space makes life easier for me. Yes, I know it is all about me… perhaps I need to re read today’s meditation regarding humility.
Hearing loops… are very much needed… again, as I age, hearing the readings and the homily are near impossible, even with hearing aids (that latch on to the loudest thing and stick with it), I find myself not hearing the readings or the homily. As much as I enjoy the renovation in the churches, if I can’t hear what is being said, well, you get it.
•mail delivery… how is yours? I’m finding mine lacking, although my carrier does an outstanding job; her route is huge, and her relief is lacking. The USPS rules make no sense. Why would mail that is mailed 2 blocks down the street have to travel to another state only to be turned around and sent back? Put the dang mail in a local box, have it sorted at the local PO, and delivered locally. This is much more cost-effective, cuts down on sorting errors, and in general makes the most sense. I am tired of getting my newspapers late, and advertisements late so that I miss the sale. Those bulk mail things that are no longer delivered, unless you get 1st class mail, are time sensitive. USPS delivery rules have recently changed, affecting delivery times and methods, with a focus on improving efficiency and reducing costs.
Changes to Delivery Standards
As of April 1, 2025, the United States Postal Service (USPS) has implemented new delivery standards as part of its “Delivering for America” plan. Here are the key points regarding these changes:
Delivery Times: Approximately 11% of First-Class Mail will experience slower delivery, while 14% will arrive faster. However, most First-Class Mail (about 75%) will see no change in delivery times. The new standards aim to stabilize operations and cut costs, with a goal of saving $36 billion over the next decade.
Rural Areas Impact: Customers in rural areas may experience the most significant changes, with potential delays in mail delivery. The USPS is shifting from using three-digit ZIP code regions to five-digit ZIP code pairs to better estimate delivery times.
Delivery Instructions Service
USPS also offers a Delivery Instructions service that allows recipients to specify how their mail should be delivered. Here’s how it works:
Setting Up Instructions: Recipients can authorize specific delivery methods for their incoming shipments, such as leaving items at a designated location or redirecting them to a different address. This service is available for items with a USPS Tracking® barcode.
Eligibility: To use the Delivery Instructions service, the mailpiece must bear a USPS Tracking barcode. Users can check eligibility by entering the tracking number on the USPS website.
Setting Instructions: Instructions can be set up through a USPS.com account, where users can specify their preferences for delivery.
These updates and services are part of USPS’s ongoing efforts to enhance customer experience while managing operational costs effectively. For more detailed information, you can visit the official USPS website or contact your local post office.

That about covers my griping and opinions for today.

The photocopier is humming away this morning as I write. Two jobs were waiting for me yesterday when I arrived home. Amish teachers need worksheets copied. I truly enjoy doing this as it allows me to see what those students are being taught. Both schools are on my workshop route, so I will deliver them this morning as I make my way.

Yesterday, on my rounds, I found a new-to-me meat & cheese store in the Readstown area on Yttri Rd. I will definitely be heading back there this week.

The train was on time last evening, which meant I was home at a decent time. I am not always so fortunate when it comes to the Amtrak train. With winter weather coming, it will be more late than on time. Many times, the lateness is due to sharing the track with freight trains, which take precedence over passenger trains. I will say the price is right when it comes to travel, and I have never heard anything bad regarding accommodations.

Looking forward to another uneventful day today. Another expectant mother was added to my night driving list.

For the past 20 years, I’ve had thoughts of what a good location a particular house is in when I’ve gone by it. Yesterday I realized there was a for-sale sign in the yard. I checked it out, older home, 3 bd 1 bath, a couple acres, awesome price! I wish it had been up 20 years ago. Good fishing, canoeing, hunting, and cell reception (not always available in the driftless) area.

How are you?

Chilly out here in the office this morning, time to bring out the heater for winter weather. For those who don’t know, my husband and 2nd son built an office for me in the attached garage. It holds plants, copiers & supplies, craft items, books, a good reading chair, walking pad, and lamp. I spend much time out here daily. My thinking, pondering, meditating spot. Right now, it is a mess, in dire need of cleaning.

Which brings me to a question: do you have a spot where you go to talk with Jesus? A comfortable spot, where you can spend time just thinking or creating? Consider finding a spot, even if it’s a corner of the sofa, with a basket/tote filled with your prayer items. Make a spot for you & Jesus to spend time.

My day should be fairly simple: a trip to the midwife with an expectant couple, a trip to drop off print copy at the printer for the Amish newspaper. Of course, the normal “laundry” will have to be done.

65 days left in 2025, how is it possible for the year to have flown by so very quickly? Our lives are similar to that. They fly by so quickly, and the older we get, the faster it seems to go. Are you sitting on the fence with your faith? Your confession? Your relationships? Perhaps letting the thought of “there’s plenty of time to make things right” prevent you from acting on something you know should be done? Time is running out. Don’t let the last grain of sand in the hourglass run through before you take the necessary steps.

Sts Crispin & Crispinian were shoemakers who served the poor for free, teaching us that there are many ways to be missionaries.

Take a moment to review the notes you’ve taken while reading scripture with me. Make a note of any questions you may have. Take note of any changes you have experienced within yourself because of your scripture reading or rosary prayers. Has making time for Christ changed the way you perceive the world? Are you setting aside enough time, or too much? Make the necessary adjustments to your schedule. Consider taking notes during the homily at Mass that you can go back to while you ponder what has been said. Have you prayed about what changes are needed in your lifestyle? Have you been to confession? Perhaps setting a confession time on your scheduling calendar that repeats every so often would be helpful. Are you reading more reflective books? The type that encourage the changes you’ve decided to make in your life? Are you sharing your faith with someone else?

Good Morning!
October has less than a week left to it.
November will bring a whole new set of things to deal with, celebrate, etc. Before you know it, Advent will begin. Nov 30 and another new month will come with it. Life seems to be moving so quickly it is hard to believe a new year is a few short weeks away.
The man and I have slowed our calendar this year. For the most part we’ve been sticking to that paramiter. We’ve begun attending Adoration at a 24 hr Adoration Chapel close to us. It allows us to spend quiet prayerful time together. It has been a good thing.
We’ve slowly been working on unfinished projects here around the house. Perhaps today will see the enclosure of the front porch for winter. All depends on wind direction and speed.
Ebony survived her 1st trip to the Vet. She’s back to her old self again. In Nov. she will be taken in again to be spayed and have her front paws declawed. Not to worry, she won’t be off leash outside.
Finished a copy job received last evening, will deliver it Monday morning.
Cold has brought some stiffness back into the finger joints. I need to pull out my knitting and crochet work to get and keep the fingers moving. Or perhaps the embroidery hoop would do the same thing. We shall see.
