Martin Luther King, Jr. Day (Federal Holiday)

“And so even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream. I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: ‘ We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.’

Dr. King was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize on Dec. 10, 1964. He said he accepted the honor on behalf of the civil rights movement “in recognition that non-violence is the answer to the civil, political, and moral questions of our time.”

Typical Monday in the works here this morning. Waiting to see if there are any closers or delays in the school day

Copywork finished yesterday

Jack Frost was in the garden;
I saw him there at dawn;
He was dancing round the bushes
And prancing on the lawn.
He had a cloak of silver,
A hat all shimm’ring white,
A wand of glittering star-dust,
And shoes of sunbeam light.
(John P. Smeetion, 19th century)

Keep safe and warm today.

0330 adventure… bus came in from an Amish funeral in OH. I ended up taking 4 families home on less-than-stellar roads. My deepest thanks to Scott in the Town of Clinton for his quick response and rescue from hood high drifts on Ogden. You went above and beyond, may God richly bless you for your kindness. All were delivered safely thanks to you. My deepest thanks also to Mlsna Dairy & Cory Leis for their efforts. It is wonderful to live in an area where neighbors are neighbors and all pull together. Yes, I know, what on earth possessed me to do this, in this type of weather? My hope is someone will do this for me when I am stranded in a blizzard. We don’t always get to pick how things work for the good of God. This time God’s mercy shined through. For that, I praise and thank him.

Two copy jobs were completed with one in the wings to go. This is a good day to get everything finished up. I doubt I will make it further than Mass at 4pm across the road.

Please say a prayer for a young woman “AM” who will be having surgery this coming week. May God and St. Peregrine come to her aid.

Finally watched the Epoch Times Jan 6 movie… I am speechless at the crimes committed by the government over the past 3 years. Very hard to believe the US government would do and continue to do what is shown in that movie. Everyone should watch it. The link is somewhere in my blog.

Off to Madison today if the roads aren’t too bad. At this point in time, I think I’d rather stay home but I already committed and apparently, the roads aren’t too bad.

On this day in 1993, my children T & M were baptized and confirmed by Fr. Frank Benda (deceased).

Came home last evening feeling punk. Headache, dizzy, nausea, went straight to bed. Am awake now feeling much better but totally lazy. One look outside puts snowfall over an inch. Will continue all day with winds picking up, making travel difficult. Defiantly boot, parka, longjohn weather.

Yesterday I worked on my bible study lesson for tomorrow. I find the class interesting and informative.

Intermittent Fasting…1227 hours overall of fasting. This week will be a big challenge for me. Eating time is from 1600-2000 hrs. Water intake is always a challenge for me. The fit of my clothes is changing enough to feel it and smile. Dropping of pounds is slow about a pound a week. I am in week 11 of a 25-week plan to complete the plan and accomplish the weight loss continues to be the goal. Overall, I feel better, am sleeping better (CPAP in place), knees are improving (most days). I continue to offer it all up for the souls in purgatory who need it the most.

February is fast approaching. That is the month the man and I will be taking off to wander to the south for a few days spent with DS#4 and his family. As well as spending time with DD#5 and her husband. From the sounds of things, we will be pulling DD’s self-contained down and parking it. We may wander into Nebraska and then into South Dakota before we return home.

Happy Bday to DS#3…time flies.

Today we celebrate “The Baptism of the Lord”

Which reminds me, of my thoughts on yesterday’s homily given by Bishop Flock of San Ignacio de Velasco, Bolivia. Who was born and raised right here in my neck of the woods. I did not appreciate his blanket reproach of those here in the USA who are skeptical of the way Pope Francis is conducting himself. I give respect for the office of the Pope as well as for the office of the Bishop but let me remind you those offices are held by humans who have a tendency to put themselves first (something Christ never did).  The cause of sin and shame are rooted in pride and disobedience. We ourselves are to blame, God offered the gift, and we decided to do things our way. The choice is between obeying God or one’s own desires. This has been the human struggle since the garden. The skeptisim comes due to Pope Francis and what he desires to happen, thus creating scandal and deception for the faithful who know and understand the 10 commandments. Nuff said.
