Busy day yesterday. Garage sale items taken down and disposed of either by boxing, throwing, or giving away. Items on the front porch were moved to storage in the garage. A/C window unit installed, Front porch and living room cleaned. Lots more to do but that will have to wait.

Mass was a small gathering last evening. Not sure why but done quickly, less than 45mins.

In the Catholic Tradition… Let us offer up our thanksgiving that former President Trump was not killed, and ask for quick healing of his injuries. May we pray for the repose of the souls of the person who was killed and for the shooter. May those who were injured heal quickly both physically and mentally. May we take this moment to stop, assess our lives, and draw closer to Christ. Where are you going? Have you given it serious thought? Matthew 16:26 Have you looked after your eternal salvation? Have you made a note of your sins? 2 Peter 1:10 Do not be discouraged because salvation requires so many sacrifices on our part. Jesus told us it would be Matthew 7:14, 11:12, Luke 9:23. Ask God for His grace and cooperate generously with it.

Coffee strong, it needs to be this morning

Queen Anne’s lace is in bloom around the fountain, Kiss Me Over the Garden Gate is also in bloom (over the garden fence), Purple Spirea continues to bloom, and the Sunflowers are growing tall with their huge buds almost ready to burst open and face the sun. The Bridal Wreath needs taming, the Rock Beds need weeding, and a tiny Hummer feeds on Hosta nectar.

There is so much to be done, so few to do it. Today is cleaning day. There are a couple copy jobs to do and it must get done.

So glad it is Friday. Have a few things to do but for the most part, I am liking the thought of the weekend.

In the Catholic Tradition… The Grace of God. Grace is the greatest of God’s gifts to humans. It is entirely supernatural, gratuitous, and a GIFT. We cannot merit it but we should continually pray for it. Adam lost it for himself and his descendants but God is good and sent his son to redeem us from sin and grant us his friendship once more. St Paul was transformed by the grace of God. We too receive grace from God. 1 Cor 15:10 Judas also received grace but failed to correspond with them. Are we failing to correspond with the graces God sends us? Ps 34:22 God is never really silent, he forever appeals to us to lead good lives. Even when we stray, he follows and appeals to us to return.

How’s the journaling going… “how do I feel, what do I need” are you more in tune with yourself by doing this? or have you given it up?

Know you are prayed for.

Village quiet & peaceful

Looking to be another hot one with glorious sunshine. My body doesn’t care for the hot and sweaty so much but I’m totally enjoying it.

Found a couple Shelley Shepard Gray fluff books to keep me entertained for a few days. It is hard to find books these days that don’t swear, don’t have pages filled with sex, and don’t promote bad thinking. This writer appears to be safe from that… I shall see.

In the Catholic Tradition… Enemies of the Soul… the devil, the world, and ourselves…
The Devil, once an angel of beauty had gifts superior to those of men, & was in a state of happiness. God required from him proof of his fidelity before he merited everlasting reward. Lucifer was proud of his beauty & power, believing he was equal to God and he rebelled, drawing with him into eternal ruin innumerable bands of disloyal angels. Their sin was greater than ours due to being endowed with superior intellect and their will not subject to the pull of sensitive appetites of a material body. This is why they were not given time to repent but immediately condemned. Keep in mind they are not confined they move freely taking their hell with them. They endanger in a thousand ways our eternal salvation. 1 Peter 5:8 St Augustine wrote “The devil is a mastiff in chains, he can bark but he cannot bite unless we yield to his evil suggestion & approach him. Watch & Pray.
The World, there are so many beautiful things reflecting the power and goodness of God, we stray in the midst of this passing beauty by setting our hearts upon it instead of wholly belonging to God. We become deceived and forget everything on earth passes like a shadow.
Ourselves, we sin and rebel against the soul and against God. We lust against the spirit and against flesh. (Gal 5:17) We continue to be tempted as St Paul was (2 Cor 12:7). We must resist them by staying close to God, it is fatal to lay down our arms for this lust. Striving to satisfy our desires will make us unhappy in this life and will condemn us forever in the next.

Prayers continue for HB, CD, K&SM, B&KS, GS, D&BC , JH, and the moms at cmom along with others.

Looks like we’re going to get some hot ones over the next few days.

In the Catholic Tradition let’s talk about quality of attraction. We all have an attractive side which can draw others toward good or toward evil. Behaviour, countenance, and conversation reflect your inner spirit. What quality of attraction do you possess? How do you behave in Mass? What about at home? Do you promote peace and harmony by good example? Do you carry the good odour of Christ (the fragrance of your interior holiness) with you?

The man off to Marian at 0300

Looking forward to an easy day today. The plan is to find a new book at the library when it opens and read it after I do a couple pick up and drop offs. Well and of course get the vacuuming, laundry, office picked up.

In the Catholic Tradition, lets look at vanity…
Webster— excessive pride in or admiration of one’s own appearance or achievements.
Church— a lesser sin that is a root of pride and an inordinate desire for external glory. An act of trying to gain recognition or respect for something that is not rightfully deserved, such as human prise or physical beauty
Scripture– Ecclesiastes 1:1-2, 2:1, 11, 15, 21, 4:4, 5:10, 6:2; Jeremiah 2:5, 4:30; Proverbs 31:30; Psalms 39:5-6, 119:37; Romans 12:2; 1 Samuel 16:7; 1Timothy 4:8; and Galatians 5:16-26
Vanity will destroy whatever is good in our actions and make them useless in the sight of God. It robs good actions of all merit when they are done to make yourself look good. Apostle of the Gentiles, St Paul, said in 2 Corinthians 12:11 I have become foolish; you have compelled me. For I ought to have been commended by you. For I have been nothing less than those who claim to be above the measure of Apostles, even though I am nothing.

Weekend was good. Now it’s time to get down to business. Looking like my day will be steady.

Did I tell you my burning barrel is up and functioning? I’m loving it! No more wondering what will happen to all the papers that have private information on/in them. Let the sorting begin.

In the Catholic Tradition… falling into sin… Proverbs 24:16, 1 John 1:8
thoughts, speech, actions, inactions, omission, weakness, impatience, premeditated malice…
So we watch, avoid, pray… Matt. 26:41, Luke 18:1,
Virtue is necessary for everyone not just anchorite. Matt 11:12
When you realize you have sinned avoid… hardness of heart (indifference) and excessive anxiety (discouragement and loss of confidence)… God is merciful. Ecclus 5:4-5, Luke 15:18,
No matter how grave or numerous our sins the mercy of God is infinite. He is waiting for us to come to him. Our fall can humble us and help us realize we are incapable of infinite good on our own. Let us go to him humbly and penitently, trusting he will give us the kiss of peace and forgiveness.
