Reflexology & Chiro today. They just work for me. Probably because Tracy & Pene know their stuff.
Need to pick up candles today. I use the cheap ones from Dollar General in my altar sconce as 1.50/candle vs 5.00 is more to my liking although the inexpensive ones don’t burn as long and are not made from beeswax, about a 78.21 savings per year. Not a huge savings but it’s mentionable.
The boy will be moving his stuff on Thurs. The man will enjoy having the extra space on his side of the garage.
In the Catholic tradition… Christ is not re-sacrificed at every Mass. We recognize that God lives in all time yesterday, today, and in the future. In the Mass we enter we bring into the present that same sacrifice from the past. A re-presentation. Christ’s sacrifice is eternal, for all mankind and in all times. It is not contained in the moment it first happened. John 6:49-71 NAB
Your ancestors ate the manna in the desert, but they died; 50 this is the bread that comes down from heaven so that one may eat it and not die. 51 I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give is my flesh for the life of the world.” 52 The Jews quarreled among themselves, saying, “How can this man give us [his] flesh to eat?” 53 Jesus said to them, “Amen, amen, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you do not have life within you. 54 Whoever eats* my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him on the last day. 55 For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink. 56 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me and I in him. 57 Just as the living Father sent me and I have life because of the Father, so also the one who feeds on me will have life because of me.b 58 This is the bread that came down from heaven. Unlike your ancestors who ate and still died, whoever eats this bread will live forever.” 59 These things he said while teaching in the synagogue in Capernaum. 60 Then many of his disciples who were listening said, “This saying is hard; who can accept it?” 61 Since Jesus knew that his disciples were murmuring about this, he said to them, “Does this shock you? 62 What if you were to see the Son of Man ascending to where he was before?* 63 It is the spirit that gives life, while the flesh* is of no avail. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and life. 64 But there are some of you who do not believe.” Jesus knew from the beginning the ones who would not believe and the one who would betray him. 65 And he said, “For this reason I have told you that no one can come to me unless it is granted him by my Father.” 66 As a result of this, many [of] his disciples returned to their former way of life and no longer accompanied him. 67 Jesus then said to the Twelve, “Do you also want to leave?” 68 Simon Peter answered him, “Master, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. 69 We have come to believe and are convinced that you are the Holy One of God.” 70 Jesus answered them, “Did I not choose you twelve? Yet is not one of you a devil?” 71 He was referring to Judas, son of Simon the Iscariot; it was he who would betray him, one of the Twelve.
We do not keep Christ hanging on the Cross over and over again. We realize His “death & resurrection” are salvation.

Food for thought: “Some think they are good Christians because they avoid committing sin, more or less fulfill their duties, and remember to pray most all the time. Yet they avoid arriving too early at church, leave immediately after it is over, make excuses to escape/or leave their job half-done… you cannot depend on for fervor prayer, attention to duty, or a spirit of sacrifice. Do you fit in this category?

In the Catholic Tradition… Let’s See God in All Things
Due to our human nature we get restless and irritable when things are not going our way.
We want: health–are sick, success & high position–are forgotten & humiliated, holiness–God allows us to be humbled and fall into sins. We want, we want, we want… yes it does come down to that…WE WANT… and think we DESERVE. there in lies our problem. Holiness is about what GOD WANTS. We fail to hear, see, understand what God wants. Remember Matthew 25:15-30. God gives/gave each of us a talent/talents. We are to take that talent, use it, all the while showing/giving God the glory while our talent/s grow. Mowing lawns well is a talent… cleaning is a talent, banking is a talent, singing is a talent, teaching is a talent, nursing is a talent, well you get the picture. WHATEVER your talent is, do it well for the glory of God. Be happy for the talent he gave you and use it to further his kingdom.
Now let’s talk about our mouth–our potty mouth–the world’s potty mouth. Today the “F” word (as well as the B word and you all know it) the norm. The meaning of the F word is to have sex with, to ruin/damage/an act or instance of having sex. The B word meaning is female dog, wolf, fox, or otter. NOWHERE does it mean “well gee willikers i don’t like that”. It is chringe worthy vulgar slang and each time you use it you are vulgar. period. just plain vulgar. By using it you teach your children to use it. They then become vulgar and descensitized to vulgar things. For those who don’t know what vulgar means… lacking in good taste/sophistication, making eplicit/offensive reference to sex/bodily functions, coarse/rude. Is that what you mean to look and sound like? Is that how you want your children to be seen? Think about that, it all comes down to how you want to be seen. There is nothing cool, hip, fab, funky, groovy, fly, phat, lit, gnarly, rad, zooly, or the cat’s meow about those words.

From the Catholic Point of view… When one enters the Church, we are silent… out of respect. We are not “chatty cathies” giving huge waves and loud greetings to our friends and neighbors. We are quiet, respectful, and reserved. So those who have come in before us (and we) can pray without distraction. As we come through the door we dip our finger into the holy water fount and bless ourselves in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit recognizing each person of the Trinity. Before we enter the pew (if the Tabernacle candle is lit) we genuflect (full knee to the floor) or deep bow (from the waist), and make the sign of the cross, out of respect to Jesus Christ whose body, blood, soul, & divinity ( read John 6 all of it)is in the Tabernacle. We are not bowing to the crucifix. The crucifix is a symbol, not God. It is a reminder that Christ is in the Tabernacle and He saves/d us from our past, present, and future sins. We are bowing to Christ himself. It is not a curtsy… one curtsies to mortal kings, queens, and dignitaries out of respect for their positions (not their actions). I think we forget sometimes that we are in Church to cultivate a close personal relationship with Christ, praising and worshiping him for being our savior. We can mingle with friends and neighbors after Mass (for that matter anytime). One and only purpose for being in church should be to learn about our Lord, praise our Lord, and worship Him. We are not there to be entertained or to entertain. We are not there to see who is there, what they are wearing, or to catch up with the news. The focus is God, Christ, Holy Spirit… three in one. If this concept is new to you your religious education was/is lacking.
May you have a blest day.
