On Labor Day, we honor the dignity of work and pray for all workers,
asking for strength, compassion, and justice in the workplace.

Prayer for Workers:
“We pray for a renewed sense of dignity in the lives of all workers. God, in your goodness, you have made a home for the worker. Make a place in our hearts for compassion towards those who labor tirelessly for basic necessities. Be with us all, Christ Jesus, as we go about the busyness of our work. Amen.”
Thanksgiving for Work:
“We thank You for the blessing of work. We ask for strength to complete each day and for rest when we are weary. May our labor be fruitful and bring good for all. Amen.”
Prayer for Fair Treatment:
“We pray for fair treatment and just compensation for all workers. Let integrity and fairness guide all employers, and may respect and equity prevail in every workplace. Protect the rights of every worker. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
Prayer for Safe Working Conditions:
“Ensure safe working conditions for all. Guard against any danger and provide a secure environment where each person can perform their duties without fear of injury or harm. Be their shield and protector. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
Prayers of the Faithful:
“We pray for the men and women who are not able to find jobs, that they may have perseverance and determination as they seek ways to participate in God’s creative work. We pray for all essential workers, that they are provided safe working conditions and access to affordable healthcare.”

2 Timothy 3

The character of heretics of latter days. He exhorts Timothy to constancy. Of the great profit of the knowledge of the scriptures.

1 Know also this, that, in the last days, shall come dangerous times.  2 Men shall be lovers of themselves, covetous, haughty, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, wicked,  3 Without affection, without peace, slanderers, incontinent, unmerciful, without kindness,  4 Traitors, stubborn, puffed up, and lovers of pleasures more than of God:  5 Having an appearance indeed of godliness, but denying the power thereof. Now these avoid.

6 For of these sort are they who creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, who are led away with divers desires:  7 Ever learning, and never attaining to the knowledge of the truth.  8 Now as Jannes and Mambres resisted Moses, so these also resist the truth, men corrupted in mind, reprobate concerning the faith.  9 But they shall proceed no farther; for their folly shall be manifest to all men, as theirs also was.  10 But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, love, patience,

[8] “Jannes and Mambres”: The magicians of king Pharao.

11 Persecutions, afflictions: such as came upon me at Antioch, at Iconium, and at Lystra: what persecutions I endured, and out of them all the Lord delivered me.  12 And all that will live godly in Christ Jesus, shall suffer persecution.  13 But evil men and seducers shall grow worse and worse: erring, and driving into error.  14 But continue thou in those things which thou hast learned, and which have been committed to thee: knowing of whom thou hast learned them;  15 And because from thy infancy thou hast known the holy scriptures, which can instruct thee to salvation, by the faith which is in Christ Jesus.

16 All scripture, inspired of God, is profitable to teach, to reprove, to correct, to instruct in justice,  17 That the man of God may be perfect, furnished to every good work.

[16] “All scripture,”: Every part of divine scripture is certainly profitable for all these ends. But, if we would have the whole rule of Christian faith and practice, we must not be content with those Scriptures, which Timothy knew from his infancy, that is, with the Old Testament alone: nor yet with the New Testament, without taking along with it the traditions of the apostles, and the interpretation of the church, to which the apostles delivered both the book, and the true meaning of it.

Emotional Abuse
Let’s talk about that for a moment.
“Oh, it’s just the way H/She is.”
That may be true, but it is a form of POWER & CONTROL
It is one of eight categories on the wheel
It includes, but is not limited to
•putting him/her down
•making him/her feel bad about him/her self
•calling him/her names
•making him/her this h/she is crazy
•playing mind games
•humiliating him/her
• making him/her feel guilty
The other categories on the power and control wheel are: intimidation; isolation; minimizing, denying & blaming; using children, economic abuse; male/female privilege; coercion and threats.

Birds are headed south for the winter. Our hummingbirds and orioles have left. The rodents are trying to sneak their way into warmer places.

A Snippet of Family History
Yesterday was the anniversary of Martha (Lemey) Hogan’s death. She passed in 1975. She was my mother-in-law’s mother. I remember her as a tiny woman dressed in a navy blue outfit trimmed with white lace. Her father was Thomas Lamey (1841-1892), who married (1872) Bridget Burke (1853-1915) She had four siblings that died in infancy: Ella, Francis, John & James (twins) plus, Ella who married a Flannigan (1873-1913), Margaret who married a Heffernon (1876-196?), Anna who married an Edwards (1878-1963), Julia who married a Connery (1881-1936), Teresa “Sr. Eileen”(1886-1961), John (1887-1973), Alice “Sr Immaculata” (1891-1975)

Home at 0400, sleeping 0405, woke 1115. Longest sleep I’ve had in months. Today begins the new schedule, the slower pace, the more home time. There are still 3 scheduled long trips but that’s it. I’m done with that part of life. My house is a mess… disgusting mess would more adequately describe it. Winter is coming. Driving workshop clients (M-W-Th) continues. Still no takers on that route. The baby list is empty for this year. That does not mean there won’t be any night drives, it just means I don’t know about them yet.

Ebony is a monster. She has taken over everything. I knew this would happen. It is too late now.
