Village silent, covered in snow

Well, here it is 0400 CDT. You advocators are probably sound asleep in your bed, but your hair brain idea has me up at my regular time.  My body time is begging for just one more hour, but oh  no, we can’t be having that. If I had your phone number, I’d be calling each morning so we could begin the day together.

0600, a peek outside tells me you are still nestled in your beds.  The plow operator has started his day.  Ya know what? It is still dark out there and will be for at least another hour.

Coffee’s good.  Using my flowered pioneer woman cup while pretending the grass is turning green and the wind is a drying one. Spring is coming, really, it is!

Great top find at Goodwill yesterday. Also snagged this little beauty.  Not that I need it, but it is cute. And would make a nice little gift.

One person with steeping basket teapot.
The tops are springy and have pockets.

Last but not least, two never/or read once children’s books. The good ones without fairies, dragons, or Disney characters.

Village sleeps

Waiting for client returning from OH. Morning air is crisp, time is almost 0330.

My thoughts this morning deal with the necessary waste of electricity due to dishonest people. The village is lit up like a Christmas tree to detour vandalism and theft. Tomorrow begins DST (ridiculous practice) all in the name of saving energy. We have EVs now to save energy, but they use more to be made. So many unnecessary things all in the name of saving energy. Thieves will always be with us. Unscrupulous people come in all shapes and sizes as do opportunists. I am not against progress, I am however against progress that harms and is done only so someone makes a profit over those who blindly follow, or have no recourse. It is definitely a dog-eat-dog world with no regard for anyone unless there is a profit in it. I don’t want to live in that kind of world. I long for a world where people give a hand up without thoughts of what’s in it for me.

New baby to DanielKatie T …Michael, @ 0510 this morning 8#8oz, 19.5″ long. Midwives have been returned with maid.

Fabulous article in the Cashton Record regarding Irish Ridge Rd in the Town of Clinton. https://www.cashtonrecord.com/story/2023/03/09/news/thank-you-amish-neighbors-in-clinton/5352.html

The barn fire still smolders.

Barn Fire

County F…Jeff & Lori Olson place

The fire department has been working all morning to control and put out the barn fire on the Jeff & Lori Olson place on County F. Prayers have gone up for the safety of all concerned. Fires are always tragic but middle of the winter fires always seem more so.

The past few years we have seen Samuel & Rachel Miller’s home on Cty U, Tom & Judy Degenhardt’s home on Mascot 12/21, Trail’s End on Little Ridge Rd (12/21), Furniture shop on Irish Ridge Rd 12/22 and others.

Kudos to the Firefighters, EMT’s

Village digging out

Coffee is good

6″ on the ground for sure.

Spring bulbs in bloom.

Washer & Dryer working on Mt. Wash- more.

Photocopy job completed and ready for delivery.

Clutter Alley needs picking up, the Chuckwagon needs a good cleaning, and the vacuum could run for an hour minimum.

The man is out the door, getting the expedition cleaned off and warmed up.

Just keep telling myself “Spring” arrives in 10 days.

Then I remember DST starts Sunday and

what a stupid thing that is. Who gives a rat’s a** about more daylight at night. I want to sleep well not lose an hour of sleep every single night until November. You’d think all these heath nuts would be up in arms over the damage this does to your metabolism. Oh wait, these are the same numbskulls that think you should get the covid vaxx and all the boosters. Hopefully, that bill will be buried forever.

Have my list of garden seeds/plants to put in the garden this year. Need to sit down and get a yard map made as well. There are bulbs to dig and move. Others to sort and plant. Then there’s the woodchips to spread along the fenceline, a shed to paint…sigh I better stop at that, the list could get overwhelming.

Vertigo back, the man doing my morning pick up and drop off.

Have I told you about the author I’m reading, Candace Simar? She has a series “Abercombie Trail” that I am reading. It speaks to the Souix (Minnesota) Uprising of 1862. Something I learned nothing of in history class while in school. Probably because it happened during the Civil War, which our teacher spent weeks on. They were published in 2010, and I hope the entire series can be found.

I also have author Lydia Taiwo “A Broken Childhood” on my to read list.

Got word last night my dgd Haley will receive her 1st Holy Communion on May 7th.

Have an awesome day

Lots of snow happening in California. Here in WI, their snowfall would be close to a normal event. We have the equipment to move that stuff. As well as the clothing to keep warm. We drive in it so often and have snow recreation vehicles that stranded doesn’t happen as often.

Life is like that. What you have experienced in the past helps the decisions of the future. May your future be based in Christ and the tools you use be from him.

We’re not getting any younger. In fact, most days aging seems to be coming at a rapid pace regardless of what one does to slow it down. So, in all reality death although not on your doorstep may be waiting in the wings. Have you let anyone know how you want things done? Have you filled out the necessary forms to make life easier on your descendants? Have you planned your funeral? Purchased your cemetery plot? Ordered your headstone? Made out your will? Have you sorted your belongings? Gone thru the attic and returned items that belong to your children? Sorted the Christmas/Easter/Valentine/etc decorations? What about your book collection? Your mother’s dishes? Your father’s tools?

I’ve been told many of today’s young adults don’t want their parents belonging, much less have to sort thru them. Do the sorting yourself. Give it to them and let them decide for themselves. Let them throw it out, sell it, and give it away. After all, in the end, it will be theirs to fight over (and trust me they will) once you are gone.

Collect all your websites, passwords, etc. Close out the old ones and note the day you did it. There are some really ideal little booklets out there where you can record all those things. I’m about halfway thru and have come to realize how tedious it is to get this done. Those family history papers, get them in order, fill out, and collated. Nothing worse than having to figure out someone else’s idea of how to file things (all thrown into one box free for all).

For goodness sake empty your medicine cabinet, bedside drawers, and bathroom bins. All that half-used, outdated crap needs to go. No one will use already been used stuff. That’s like chewing all ready been chewed gum.

Your closet…if you haven’t worn it get rid of it. There are plenty of resale/thrift shops out there. Let’s get realistic.

Now that craft room, really all those bins? Even if you were 20 you’d never use it all. Gift it to someone who will.

Your journals, are you sure you want your children and grandchildren reading them? Do they hold information you want to be passed on? Or was it venting? Do you want them to read your vent? Do you want a stranger reading them?

Nuff on that subject.

How’s Lent going? We’re into the 2nd week.

Unfortunately, Daylight Saving Time begins on Sunday. What a waste of energy. Most who know me know I feel this way. Utter failure at the original intent. Well, that is if you believe what they said. Personally, I believe it was an attempt to control. In that area, it was successful for the most part. In another area, it got people divided.
