Reading Exodus…

20:23. Do not make anything to rank with me; neither gods of silver nor gods of gold shall you make for yourself.

Did you know an ancient symbol of obedience was a pierced ear?

Hebrews 13:4-5a. Let marriage be honored among all, and the marriage bed kept undefiled, for God will judge the immoral and adulterers. Let your life be free from love of money, but be content with what you have,

Thank you to son #5 for a very enjoyable supper last evening. Always good to spend time with you. The new Mexican restaurant in Sparta is very good. https://g.co/kgs/HR8yKC

Making a quick trip to IA this morning and back.

Looking forward to having supper with the boy at 5 tonight… New Mexican place in Sparta.

Yesterday, I started intermittent fasting with the Body Fast app. I think this might help me get serious and lose some weight… 100# to be exact. Now to get those measurements done.

Fall rain

Rain drops

running down

the window pane

Water pooling

On roadways and

driveways

Dry fields

Soaking up moisture

Temps dropping into

The forties

Wind comes up

Sneaking its way

Through the sash

Leaving the chill behind

As it sucks the warmth

From the room

Woodstove

Cracking and popping

As it warms

From the newly lit

Wood chunks

Chopped last year

Bout this time

Rocker, shawl, hot cocoa

Warm the insides

Fallow time

Is coming.

Coffee, left in travel mug on counter… dang it

Beautiful out here this morning. Perfect temp to enjoy what sky can be seen thru the clouds. Rain is coming. We need it. Summer flowers are fading. The tree leaves are past their prime. Gardens are being cleared. Last of the summer vegetables are enjoyed at table. Harvest is coming along nicely. Fallow time is coming.

I’m looking forward to fallow time. DST will end. Order will be restored. The ebb and flow of life’s tide will return to normal.

The celebration of gratitude and thankfulness will soon be upon us. Perhaps an inventory of God’s generosity should be made. We are sometimes neglectful in that area.

Happy 20 Birthday Keziah

Furnace kaput, new one comes Thursday. Better now than January.

Yard art has been gathered up for storage. One last weed pull.

The fallow time is coming. A time to be unproductive so as to resore ourselves. It’s a time to read books, have good conversation, evaluate the path you walk, write letters, and fix what ails you.

St. John the Baptist Montello, WI

Yesterday, we attended 10am Mass here. We were greeted by many on the way in.

The visiting priest informed us of his village in India.

The Rosary was said before mass in a reverent, beautiful way by someone whose voice inflections told you they had talked with our Lady many times previous.

The fall bazaar was in its 2 day. Snagged a couple awesome items.

Everyone friendly & welcoming.

The Baptist would have liked this church. No frill, no fuss, the only focus on the altar…the body of Christ.

Keep your eyes on Jesus.
