Memory Verse 1 Timothy 1:18-20 – “I entrust this charge to you, Timothy, my child, in accordance with the prophetic words once spoken about you. Through them may you fight a good fight by having faith and a good conscience. Some, by rejecting conscience, have made a shipwreck of their faith, among them Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I have handed over to Satan to be taught not to blaspheme.”
BLASPHEME… speaking (swear, curse, utter oaths, utter profanities, take the Lord’s name in vain) irreverently about God or sacred things. Also note that when Paul says he handed them over to Satan he meant excommunicated them come parc this with 1 Corinthians 5:5 and 1 Timothy 1:13.
That definition sort of jumped off the page because many times I day I can find myself saying things like OMG, or ‘what the hell’, and cursing-profanities is the norm these days. It is used in public as often as saying “hello”.
