The man off to Marian at 0300
Looking forward to an easy day today. The plan is to find a new book at the library when it opens and read it after I do a couple pick up and drop offs. Well and of course get the vacuuming, laundry, office picked up.
In the Catholic Tradition, lets look at vanity…
Webster— excessive pride in or admiration of one’s own appearance or achievements.
Church— a lesser sin that is a root of pride and an inordinate desire for external glory. An act of trying to gain recognition or respect for something that is not rightfully deserved, such as human prise or physical beauty
Scripture– Ecclesiastes 1:1-2, 2:1, 11, 15, 21, 4:4, 5:10, 6:2; Jeremiah 2:5, 4:30; Proverbs 31:30; Psalms 39:5-6, 119:37; Romans 12:2; 1 Samuel 16:7; 1Timothy 4:8; and Galatians 5:16-26
Vanity will destroy whatever is good in our actions and make them useless in the sight of God. It robs good actions of all merit when they are done to make yourself look good. Apostle of the Gentiles, St Paul, said in 2 Corinthians 12:11 I have become foolish; you have compelled me. For I ought to have been commended by you. For I have been nothing less than those who claim to be above the measure of Apostles, even though I am nothing.
Know you are prayed for.
