Take away from Mass “purgatory is a gentle pence for our committed sin” In thinking of every sin I have committed time spent in purgatory is a gentle reminder of what it could have been (hell) had I not confessed and repented. Sometimes one gets fairly smug when for whatever reason previous sin is brought up… “I’ve been forgiven of that” is a common reply, it’s forgiven. Yes, it has been forgiven and because of that mercy you recieved from Christ it won’t be the reason you go to hell. But the effects of your sin did not stop. Think about that before you blythly go off and once again do something that is sinful… what will be affected by what you do. Avoid the near occasion of sin… there in lies the answer.
Many thanks to PM for her kind words this morning, made my day.
Yesterday at St Columbkilles in DBQ, IA I said goodbye to my friend Patty M. As I waited for the funeral mass to start I noticed that her youngest son’s friends came in group to give him support. What a wonderfully kind gesture that was to him. I also noticed how respectful P’s sons were to those around them and the kind gestures they displayed even in their sorrow. In those gestures I saw my friend and the influence she had on them. As I presented myself for communion I took one last chance to touch the coffin where my friend’s body laid. My last fairwell gesture to her. In that moment I realzied it was just her body, her soul had already left. Although I will never see her again in this life, perhaps we will meet again in the next. RIP my friend for I am smiling thinking about you, Kathy H, Carmen, & Kathy S perhaps having a cmom gathering there. Pray for us.
I must get it together today and work on my bible study assignment.
There are 2 copy projects to complete
A couple of letters to write and ready for Monday’s mail.
Know you are prayed for.
