Martin Luther King, Jr. Day (Federal Holiday)
“And so even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream. I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: ‘ We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.’“
Dr. King was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize on Dec. 10, 1964. He said he accepted the honor on behalf of the civil rights movement “in recognition that non-violence is the answer to the civil, political, and moral questions of our time.”
Typical Monday in the works here this morning. Waiting to see if there are any closers or delays in the school day
Copywork finished yesterday
Jack Frost was in the garden;
I saw him there at dawn;
He was dancing round the bushes
And prancing on the lawn.
He had a cloak of silver,
A hat all shimm’ring white,
A wand of glittering star-dust,
And shoes of sunbeam light.
(John P. Smeetion, 19th century)
Keep safe and warm today.
