God gives us everything we need (perhaps not everything we want) to grow into the holy people he wants us to be. Read Mark 12. Jesus came, he call disciples, some followed, some didn’t, some betrayed, and some went sadly away because they couldn’t give up earthly things to follow Jesus. Jesus is killed so that we sinners can live with him in eternity. Before he ascends he gives us the Holy Ghost/Spirit to guide and walk with us on our journey to heaven. Once again we are called, some will follow, and some will continue on their own path because they cannot see the value of giving away earthly things to gain heavenly treasure. Then there are those who accept the call, willingly go, and immediately get labeled by the world as odd, holier than thou, marches to a different drummer, or more Catholic than the Pope. Christ calls us to a personal, intimate, relationship with him. He calls us…

I’m old enough to remember small family farms when they were the norm, small family businesses lined the main street, the doctor, the dentist, the lawyers, policemen, etc. all local, all known by just about everyone in town. The postmaster knew where the mail went even if a card hadn’t been filled out for a change of address. The bank knew who would/could pay off a loan even if the numbers didn’t work (did they even use numbers back then?) The pastor knew everyone in the church and was in for dinner most Sundays with one of the families from the church. When someone wasn’t there he found a way to check up on them in the coming week. The setup wasn’t perfect, and neither were the people, but the thought process worked…” the good of the whole”. Now we live in a world that is all about making the most money, having the most things, and being busy all the time, with the thought process of “if it’s right for me then it is right”. Many have no clue who their neighbor is and frankly don’t care to find out. We look for how to improve our community and totally miss the obvious. KNOW YOUR NEIGHBOR… shop your community, check on those you haven’t seen in a while, etc.

Have an awesome week.

Know you are prayed for.
