Garage Sales…

My intentions were good. Just scheduled my life wrong. The man and the girl are doing all the work. Me? I’m driving. On the last leg till next week

Where did all this stuff come from?

The first day went well. Almost a $400. Day. There is just SO MUCH MORE!

Meanwhile, the yard gets mowed, the front porch is partially opened, the flowerbeds mulched, old papers burned, plants repotted, and a campfire enjoyed by all.

Onward… to day two!

Cold and rainy.

Slow selling day, but things are moving out the door.

Suppose to rain for the next 2 days.

Tomorrow is half price day.

As well as the afternoon being free for the taking off the curb. Some will go off to the Cupboard & Closet, some to the dump… nothing is staying here.

Perhaps in July, I will do another sale with books. Who knows.

The rest of the house sleeps

It’s been nice having the girl home for a few days. Without her, this garage sale would be a dismal failure.

Very nice conversation last evening around the bonfire. The man and I need to rest and relax around it more often.

The man has overdone it in the work department this week. We can use some down days on of these days.

John 15: 16 You have not chosen me: but I have chosen you; and have appointed you, that you should go, and should bring forth fruit; and your fruit should remain: that whatsoever you shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

When was the last time you checked the fruit you’ve been cultivating in your life? We’ve been promised “Fruit of the Spirit” have you been planting, cultivating, and harvesting yours with the help of the Holy Spirit? St Paul tells us about the Fruit of the Holy Spirit and the lust of the flesh, reminding us to not only walk in the Spirit but to live in the Spirit. Galatians 5:16 I say then, walk in the spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lusts of the flesh.  17 For the flesh lusteth against the spirit: and the spirit against the flesh; for these are contrary one to another: so that you do not the things that you would.  18 But if you are led by the spirit, you are not under the law.  19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are fornication, uncleanness, immodesty, luxury,  20 Idolatry, witchcrafts, enmities, contentions, emulations, wraths, quarrels, dissensions, sects,  21 Envies, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like. Of the which I foretell you, as I have foretold to you, that they who do such things shall not obtain the kingdom of God.  22 But the fruit of the Spirit is, charity, joy, peace, patience, benignity, goodness, longanimity,  23 Mildness, faith, modesty, continency, chastity. Against such there is no law.  24 And they that are Christ’s, have crucified their flesh, with the vices and concupiscences.  25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

Just a bit of a reminder… do not make yourself so busy you fail to have time for prayer. When you hear the angelus bells three times a day stop and say a prayer. This will help redirect your steps onto the right path should you have gotten off the path and if the perfect nudge to reflect on how your day is going thus far.

From the sounds of things, we are to receive some rain today. We can use the moisture here.

How are things going in your neck of the woods” Inquiring minds want to know.

Have an awesome day and know you are prayed for.

Village peaceful

Coffee is awesome

Daylight found its way thru the blind shortly after 5 this morning. I was lingering in bed thinking how nice it would be if I could just stay there for a few more hours and recover some of the sleep we had lost driving back on Monday. It was not to be, way too much going on today to lounge around wishing for more sleep.

Have a few errands to run this morning plus get the garage in order for the rummage sale tomorrow thru Saturday.

John 15:  4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abide in the vine, so neither can you, unless you abide in me. Comforting verse don’t you think? Jesus invites us in and He comes to us. Where he fills us with peace, bestows grace, pours out love, and gives us strength to keep on. His gifts to us help us pray, and be faithful in our marriage and friendships, we are moved to repent/reconcile with those we have hurt and we joyfully serve others. Sounds like an idyllic life. However, we know that forming a friendship with Jesus is anything but easy. satan (yes he is real and does mess with us) works very hard to steal that peace and tranquility from us. He is a manipulator and a liar, stopping short at nothing to interfere with our union with Christ. This is why we must daily choose to unite ourselves with Christ taking comfort in the grace he pours on us to remain strong in him.

1st mow of the season

We could use a bailer!  Actually we could use a nice young person who wants to earn mowing $$’s.

Had to mow before we set things out for the Villagewide Garage Sales this weekend.  I question if we will ever get things set up for this sale.

Flowering vines have shot up.  1st asparagus pick happened. Had to plant the lettuce and spinach in large planters to keep them away from the rabbits.

Half finished projects are all over.  If we died tomorrow, our children would be snowed under with half finished things.

Maybe we’ll get lucky, and a nice guy who knows and enjoys projects will come along and make us an offer we can’t refuse for this place.  We’d be able to leave behind a garage full of already purchased supplies.

While I’m on the wishful thinking end of things, perhaps there’s someone out there in need of an expedition with 290,000 miles on it or a 350 dually.. sigh, the man will shoot me when he reads this and complain about me trying to get rid of his toys.

I can smell supper.  Hopefully, it will be ready when the man returns from the store.  We’ve had a long day but productive.

Yesterday late afternoon as I drove N on I35, in Missouri, a little white coup with Colorado plates zoomed past and in a blink of an eye was nothing but a dot in the distance. That car was moving!  45 mins to an hour later, we noticed a MO State Trooper had stopped him.  We continued our journey N.  Just a few miles S of Des Moine, IA, I noticed headlights coming up quickly. Lo and behold the little white coup from CO pasted us again.  Seriously?!  Must not have learned a thing was my thought.  We continued N bound on I35 passing thru DSM and Ames when who was once again along the side of the road in front of flashing red and blue lights. Almost immediately, I thought to myself , ” He got caught again,” deserves whatever he gets. Today, I ponder my quick judgment, relating it to how very many times God has caught me in the same day speeding to get to heaven, hoping no one notices I’m not following the rules as I go. Always with the thought, I’ll deal with the rule breaking if/when I get caught and hope God understands when I get there.

Independence has traffic

The drive back has gone well. Made good time. Missed most of the rain.

Our morning will be sleep time. Then we’ll start setting up the garage sale.

More later.

It’s afternoon now, got a few hours of sleep, ate a sandwich for lunch. As I ate I read today’s reading

MY PEACE I give you” that what Jesus said. Not just any old peace but his. His peace, the one that passes understanding. How awesome is that! You have received and can feel the peace given to Jesus. The only thing required of you is belief. I know it’s hard to believe… but true. So step back a bit from the chaos, quiet your mind, and reach for the peace of Christ that passes understanding.

Know you are prayed for.

Sweetwater busy

The man and I are slow to rise this morning. We had a lovely evening with old friends here in Sweetwater. It’s hard to believe 30-plus years have passed since we called Texas home.

We’ve 800 plus miles to go before we see home. The caddie has done a fine job getting us where we need to go.

I’m hoping to finish putting on the border of a friend’s afghan as we drive today.

A paperboy has been abducted in South Texas.

Monday morning, phone calls have already begun.

Can anyone tell me who this is? I believe it to be a statue of Mary, but I would love to know more.

Know you are prayed for.
