Humans are so unimportant…

I have spent the last hour calling different businesses to find a particular item.

My dollars are so unimportant that businesses can’t be bothered to have a human answer their phone.

I can’t tell you how many minutes in that hour I spent going thru the robot que in 2 languages or more.

Good grief I live in America. Answer your phones with a human.

I have decided to put businesses that can’t use a human to answer their phone on my “never buy list unless you can’t find it anywhere else” list

Does this not bother anyone else

Village sleeps

Coffee, passible

Funny thing, when you wake up early, no one else is in the house… laundry, dishes, vacuuming, office cleaning, and just about everything/anything can be accomplished because there is no one to be bothered by the noise. I’m liking that.

Attended the deanery meeting yesterday, good meeting. Only 6 in attendance, but good meeting. Fr. P spoke on the importance of mentoring. It was also noted we should be checking the ldccw an nccw websites. St John also has a website that should be checked.

I must find my sewing machine manuel.

Must get my letter writing done.

Morning Offering given

Village peaceful and cold

1st Friday (Act of Reparation to the Sacred Heart of Jesus) You can find more information on this monthly devotion at https://www.thecatholiccrusade.com/first-friday-devotion.html

Coffee, I woke to the scent of it. I was not disappointed at the taste.

My 3rd day off social media. It would be wrong to say I’ve wanted to check on it. This is why I deleted all the apps instead of deactivating from phone, tablet, and laptop.

Lovely dinner at my sister-in-law, Terese’s last evening. We must do this more often.

The man is headed to IA for the weekend, later today. I can then work on the Church website without interruption. https://stjohnthebaptistsummitridgewi.wordpress.com

Things to check out while online. 1)Chinese spy balloon over northern US and Canada, 2)new study reveals antidepressants are linked to rise in superbugs, 3)998 illegal alien children still remaining to be return to their parents, 4)the appeals court finding the federal gun ban on domestic violence offenders unconstutional, 5)the democrat proposal to remove Abraham Lincolns statue 6)H.Con.Res.9-Denouncing the horrors of socialism.

Spring will arrive Monday, March 20th, regardless of what Phil had to say yesterday. The amish greenhouses in the area will fire up their stoves in 2wks to begin planting seeds for bedding plants, and the maple syrup harvest prep work will begin after that. Have your seed catalogs arrived yet? Might want to consider planting a garden this year as the rising cost of food and the possibility of things you’d rather not have (read vaxx) being added to store food is high. (OK, don’t go there, you told me 4 yrs ago, I didn’t know what I was talking about and you now know it was all true. I find it amazing that you can’t acknowledge that.) Buy your canning supplies early, they’ll be a shortage of those things as well.

1st Thursday…

10⁰F clear NW@18mph. Morning Offering given. LaCrosse is getting busy

Waiting, that’s what I do. If fact have gotten quite good at it. Not sure how long I’ll be here today. I’ve armed myself with a good book.

The First Thursdays Devotion, also called the Act of Reparation to the Wounds of Jesus and to the Holy Eucharist, is a Catholic devotion to offer acts of reparation. It is based on purported apparitions of Christ at Balazar, Portugal, reported by Alexandrina Maria da Costa.

According to Alexandrina Maria da Costa, (popularly known as Alexandrina of Balazar, she experienced an apparition of Jesus on 25 February 1949, during which he requested a new devotion in reparation for his Holy Wounds, to be practiced on the first Thursday of every month.

Just starting a book today by Lincoln Child called “Deep Storm” 30 days ago I’d never heard of him. This will be my 4th book by him and I have a 5th in the wings.

Thriller, mystery, paranormal, etc makes me crawl between the book covers on pg one and not come out till the last sentence.

Morning Offering given. I offer to Thee, O Lord, my whole being, and in particular all my thoughts, words, actions, and sufferings of this day. I consecrate them all to the glory of Thy name, beseeching Thee that through the infinite merits of Jesus Christ my Saviour they may all find acceptance in Thy sight.

Village sleeps

Coffee’s good

The house voted to end covid mandates for medical workers. Unvaxxed kidney & heart patients who were refused transplants will have their day in court.

The First Wednesday of every month is dedicated in devotion to the Most Chaste Heart of St. Joseph and it derives from Church-approved apparitions in Itapiranga, Brazil and the United States. Prayer for this devotion… O most watchful guardian of the Holy Family, teach me to love deeply the most Holy hearts of Jesus and Mary so that I can love deeply as they your most Chaste Heart, honoring it and making it known, as you deserve and ought to be honored and loved for all eternity.

Ode to Silkies

You keep me warm. when I am so cold, who would have thought. we’d be such good friends. when I grew old

I’m thinking if I must be cold, I am grateful for the wonderful sunshine we’ve had today with it. Haven’t taken the time to check, but January seemed to be a very gray sky month.

Have you noticed the dawn is coming sooner and dusk is happening later? Spring is on its way even if it doesn’t seem like it at this moment.

Beatitudes

The text of St. Matthew runs as follows:

Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. (Verse 3)
Blessed are the meek: for they shall possess the land. (Verse 4)
Blessed are they who mourn: for they shall be comforted. (Verse 5)
Blessed are they that hunger and thirst after justice: for they shall have their fill. (Verse 6)
Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy. (Verse 7)
Blessed are the clean of heart: for they shall see God. (Verse 8)
Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. (Verse 9)
Blessed are they that suffer persecution for justice’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. (Verse 10)

This song has been one of my favorites

Blessed are the poor in spirit,
longing for their Lord,
for God’s coming kingdom shall be theirs.
Blessed are the sorrowing,
for they shall be consoled,
and the meek shall come to rule the world.

Lead me, Lord, lead me, Lord,
by the light of truth
to seek and to find the narrow way.
Be my way; be my truth;
be my life, my Lord,
and lead me, Lord, today.

Blessed are the merciful, for mercy shall be
theirs,
and the pure in heart shall see their God.
Blest are they whose hunger only holiness
can fill,
for I say they shall be satisfied.
Lead me, Lord, lead me, Lord,
by the light of truth
to seek and to find the narrow way.
Be my way; be my truth;
be my life, my Lord,
and lead me, Lord, today.

I look around today and see more people interested in themselves, their thoughts, feelings, wants, needs, etc. at the expense of others. I can be guilty of this thought process very easily.

I remember this trend being promoted in the school systems in the early 70s. Things went from “the good of the whole” to “if it is right for you” I remember my mother-in-law and a few of her friends attending meetings trying to get this trend stopped. They were gaslighted by the academic community. A book called “Building on Solid Ground” by Thomas Williams, LC addresses this culture and offers suggestions on how to curb it. Had the academics listened, they would not have to promote their “kindness” policies today.

Had the school systems not outlawed religious beliefs…

Gone, gone,gone,and gone…

Twitter, Gab, SP3RN, and Parler… no more posts, notifications, warnings, etc. In a couple more days, FB will be the same. I was surprised each photo had to be deleted separately; each tag removed. My wall looks sparse.

Sassy’s Front Porch will do fine here “in the wilds” and…

St John’s can be found at stjohnsummitridgewi.wordpress.com. apparently, it couldn’t stand alone on FB, although I tried with no help from Meta.

Instagram will soon bite the dust as well. My messages/txts will come on Signal. It is time to reconnect with the word around me. It is fun to keep in touch so easily but distracting and time-consuming. Dug out the old camera, might just be time to take a photo developing class and see the world through a lens that is not connected to the phone or internet.

We still have a house phone, hanging on the kitchen wall. Let me know if you need the number. Currently, it is used for telemarketers and faxing.

Family Tree Maker will once again receive a facelift.

Monday I pick up a new book… Terminal Freeze

Looking forward to talking with you again.

Know you are prayed for.
