Morning Offering given… prayers for those in the Ecuador earthquake zone; prayers for the 2 women/babies taken to the birthing center during the night.

Village peaceful

Coffee fantastic

It’s up and at-’em day for me this morning. I started the “loaded last night” washing machine. Showered, dressed, waiting for phone calls to pick up new babies/moms/dads to take them home. The original trip to Mayo the man will do without me. Should I write down all the questions I want him to ask our friend who is hospitalized up there? He will have company, never fear, 6 others are going with him.

Very nice day yesterday with my friend Alma, I do believe we have solved the world’s problems…if only someone would ask us how.

The temps are improving, looks like highs in the 40s for next week. I am grateful.

The experiment…slept thru the night, headache manageable, joint pain there but not near what it was, vertigo still lurking but not active yet. Onward we go.

John 9:1-41…curing the man who was born blind. Physical blindness compared to Spiritual blindness…something to ponder as your day goes on.

Here’s hoping you have an awesome day. May you spend time with your family and realize how important that is.

Know you are prayed for.

Cold this morning, heard there might be flurries…Only 2 days till Spring. I am so very ready.

Picked up a new book at the library yesterday, one audio, and one hardcover. The audio has too much swearing in it so will be going back. Do not understand why authors fill a page with vulgar language. I didn’t get past the first chapter, and am not willing to listen to the “has no purpose swearing” to follow what I’m thinking might have been a great storyline. The hardcover is book #3 in the Abercombe Trails series, which I find to be quite interesting. The setting is Minnesota’s 1880s uprising era. I still cannot believe I wasn’t taught about this in history class, and wonder if they are teaching it now.

Off to Tomah with a friend this morning. I enjoy her company, she owns a fabric/variety store on the highway. She is the age of my eldest child. I find her refreshing.

I’m beginning a bit of an experiment. In November 2019 I purchased a Fitbit after my bout with Covid-19 (undiagnosed because no one knew what it was but later confirmed by antibodies in the blood) to monitor my oxygen levels. I have worn it religiously since then. I have also noted things going on with my health since then. Vertigo, headaches, ear/sinus issue,s, excessive joint pain, the feeling of an electric pulse running thru my body, excessive fatigue, and various other things. At almost 68 I have been putting these things down to aging and the joys of the golden years. Last week I removed my smart watch, went without hearing aids for a bit, and some of these things lessened. They returned when I returned to wearing them. I am now wondering if Bluetooth has something to do with these issues, so will be doing a little experiment for a while to find out if turning off Bluetooth changes things. I’d love to know if anyone else has experienced these issues and has the same thoughts regarding Bluetooth.

My news feed held a story about a woman (my age) being refused a kidney transplant because she didn’t and won’t get the vaxx. Sometimes the medical world is flat-out deranged in its thought process. Prayers this woman finds healing.

Please continue to pray for the Amish teen in Mayo clinic. She woke up yesterday, but there is still no diagnosis or found reason for her seizures and condition.

How’s your Lent going? My hope is you are drawing closer to Jesus and finding peace in your relationship with him.

CIAY…how goes it? We’re on Day 77. I’ve been comparing today’s Catechism to the old one. Basically, they are the same except the old one is plain, and simple, whereas the new one is not.

We are planning to take April off as much as possible to finish up some projects we have begun here at the house. I’m hoping to set up a garage sale in early June, and I’m hoping I am ready on time. Will have a couple old working vehicles for sale and hope someone who needs a 1st vehicle or cheap car/SUV comes along. I am so glad we are parring down the yard clutter.

Know you are prayed for.

Weather service issued a special statement for Monroe Co regarding the slippery road conditions that are a result of yesterday’s all-day rain. They advise using extreme caution on all secondary roads and roads that have not been treated until they have been treated. No school delays noted. No road crews seen, as yet

No coffee ready, the man forgot. Sigh, I could make some I suppose but, it has been his job for years. When he said he was retiring from the “J O B”, I sure didn’t think that included making coffee job.

The news feed was filled with “Covid Vaccine warnings” so I made a separate post with those headlines in collages. Should you desire to see the full stories, go to the Epoch Times app and download it. Best $9.00/month I have spent in my life. This newspaper is a real newspaper, they investigate both sides of the story and give you those findings. Other news sources will tell you they are a far-right paper…yep they have been “far more right” about everything I’ve seen in there for the past almost 3 years. Oh, wait, that might not be the other news places’ definition of far-right. I call it as I see it.

Hoping for an easy day today. Hoping yours is too.

Know you are prayed for…offer your day to God; forgive family members who slight you; stop at church to pray; let someone know you are praying for them/or pray with them; comfort a child; remember those who have gone before…

Village waking

Coffee exceptional

A mini miracle happened last night, I slept uninterrupted from 9pm to 4am and returned to sleep till 6am. I feel amazing. The only thing I did differently was removed my Fitbit from my wrist. In fact, I think the last time I slept well I had done the same thing. I might have to continue this practice.

Asking for prayers for an Amish man’s teenage daughter. Last Monday I took them to the hospital as the daughter was having some kind of seizure. She had experienced the same thing last June and the hospital had advised her parents she was suffering from encephalitis. This time they didn’t feel they could help her so they sent her on to Mayo in Rochester. Thus far, Mayo has been unable to find what is causing her problems. They have also told this family they need to have $50,000.00 upfront to continue treatment. How charitable is that? They have on their premises a 14 yr old girl who has been unconscious since early Monday morning, they have her heavily sedated because if they don’t she goes into seizures that fling her entire body around to the point of flinging her to the floor. None of the tests they have completed show anything, they don’t believe she is in pain, and are now guessing what tests to complete but demand $50,000.00 to continue. Yes quite charitable of them isn’t it. The heck with the girl, give them the money seems to be the motto. The father says, she hasn’t improved but I do believe she is receiving a high level of care. Prayers please, for her healing.

Rain is supposed to come in today around 11, we can use the moisture. Warmer temps this morning are very welcome.

My friend Valerie is an artist. She does encaustic. Last year I purchased one of her pieces “Jesus, in the boat”. Last evening she sent me a quote from Padre Pio that I will attach to the back of that piece “…stay in the boat in which our Lord has placed you, and let the storm come. You will not perish. It appears to you that Jesus is sleeping, but let it be so. Don’t you know that if he sleeps, his heart vigilantly watches over you? Let him sleep, but at the right time, he will awaken to restore your calm.”

Jesus in the Boat by Valerie Lynn

The man made breakfast, he has now left for the morning, wishing him a wonderful day. Hard to believe we’ve had 49 yrs together in August.

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for this life, for the gift of love,

and the blessing of our marriage.

We give you praise for the joy you’ve poured into our hearts through this love,

for the contentment of family, and the happiness of our home.

May we always treasure the experience of loving each other in this holy union.

Help us to remain forever commited to our vows,

those we made to each other, and to you, Lord.

Amen.

Know you are prayed for.

Looks like cloud cover will move in as the day progresses with rain & snow possibly beginning tomorrow.

Let us take a moment to offer prayers for those in California & in the Northeastern State that they remain safe during the winter weather they are having. Here we are fortunate to have excellent snow removal equipment and experienced snow removers that is not the case in California and some parts of the Northeast. This then leads me to prayers of thanksgiving for the excellent snow removal teams we do have.

Day 74 of Catechism in a Year… how goes it for you?

Once again I am out of books, a trip to the library is instore today

5 days till Spring… yes I am counting.

Matthew 5:17Do not think that I am come to destroy the law or the prophets. I am not come to destroy, but *to fulfill. * “To fulfill”: By accomplishing all the figures and prophecies; and perfecting all that was imperfect. (Jesus came to bring to fulfillment the plan God had in mind for his people from the beginning. His purpose in coming was to fulfill not abolish.) Let’s think about that for a moment. Because of Jesus, his death, and his resurrection, we can now have an intimate relationship with God. We can receive all the grace we need to live a life pleasing to God. We have the Holy Spirit to convict, teach, and guide us as well as brothers and sisters in Christ to walk with us and support us on the way.

The man will be taking the month of April to work on finishing what we started last fall here at the house. A few prayers would be awesome so we get this project finished up.

Did you know there is a region in Wisconsin called “Gitchee Gumee”? Check out the history of Lake Superior and the native tribes that lived there and those who continue to call it home. It reminded me of this poem by Longfellow.

Hiawatha’s Childhood
By the shores of Gitche Gumee,
By the shining Big-Sea-Water,
Stood the wigwam of Nokomis,
Daughter of the Moon, Nokomis.
Dark behind it rose the forest,
Rose the black and gloomy pine-trees,
Rose the firs with cones upon them;
Bright before it beat the water.
Beat the clear and sunny water,
Beat the shining Big-Sea-Water.
There the wrinkled old Nokomis
Nursed the little Hiawatha.
Rocked him in his linden cradle,
Bedded soft in moss and rushes,
Safely bound with reindeer sinews;
Stilled his fretful wail by saying,
“Hush, the Naked Bear will hear thee!”
Lulled him into slumber, singing,
“Ewa-yea! my little owlet!
Who is this, that lights the wigwam?
With his great eyes lights the wigwam?
Ewa-yea! my little owlet!”
Many things Nokomis taught him
Of the stars that shine in heaven;
Showed him lshkoodah, the comet,
lshkoodah, with fiery tresses,
Showed the Death-Dance of the spirits,
Warriors with their plumes and war-clubs
Flaring far away to northward
In the frosty nights of winter;
Showed the broad white road in heaven,
Pathway of the ghosts, the shadows,
Running straight across the heavens,
Crowded with the ghosts, the shadows.
At the door on summer evenings,
Sat the little Hiawatha,
Heard the whispering of the pine-trees,
Heard the lapping of the waters,
Sounds of music, words of wonder;
“Minne-wawa!” said the pine-trees,
“Mudway-aushka!” said the water.
Saw the fire-fly Wah-wah-taysee,
Flitting through the dusk of evening,
With the twinkle of its candle
Lighting up the brakes and bushes,
And he sang the song of children,
Sang the song Nokomis taught him;
“Wah-wah-taysee, little fire-fly,
Little flitting, white-fire insect,
Little, dancing, white-fire creature,
Light me with your little candle,
Ere upon my bed I lay me,
Ere in sleep I close my eyelids!”
Saw the moon rise from the water,
Rippling, rounding from the water,
Saw the flecks and shadows on it,
Whispered, “What is that, Nokomis?”
And good Nokomis answered:
“Once a warrior, very angry,
Seized his grandmother, and threw her
Up into the sky at midnight;
Right against the moon he threw her;
‘Tis her body that you see there.”
Saw the rainbow in the heaven,
In the eastern sky the rainbow,
Whispered, “What is that, Nokomis?”
And the good Nokomis answered:
“‘Tis the heaven of flowers you see there;
All the wild-flowers of the forest,
All the lilies of the prairie,
When on earth they fade and perish,
Blossom in that heaven above us.”
When he heard the owls at midnight,
Hooting, laughing in the forest,
“What is that?’ he cried in terror;
“What is that,” he said, “Nokomis?”
And the good Nokomis answered;
“That is but the owl and owlet,
Talking in their native language,
Talking, scolding at each other.”
Then the little Hiawatha
Learned their names and all their secrets,
How they built their nests in summer,
Where they hid themselves in winter,
Talked with them whene’er he met them,
Called them “Hiawatha’s Chickens.”
Of all beasts he learned the language,
Learned their names and all their secrets,
How the beavers built their lodges,
Where the squirrels hid their acorns,
How the reindeer ran so swiftly,
Why the rabbit was so timid,
Talked with them whene’er he met them,
Called them “Hiawatha’s Brothers.

Know that you are prayed for.

The man is off to Iowa for the day.

As for myself, did a quick run into LaCrosse after midnight with a teen who may have encephalitis. She had it last June and was displaying the same symptoms last night. Prayers for her and her family, please. UPDATE She has be transferred (because she wasn’t responding to treatment) to Mayo in Rochester

Friday is the big consignment auction at the Produce Auction building. This auction’s proceeds go to the Amish Special School. Hopefully, it will have a fabulous turnout.

Today think about the compassion and mercy you have received from God. Reflect on it all day.

The order of Easter cards arrived yesterday. They are so beautiful, I know they will be enjoyed.

Rumor has it another snowstorm comes in sometime on Wednesday. Golly gee how lucky we are.

I need to see Pene & Tracy soon.

Let’s talk about the Banks, no let’s not. Let’s talk about the price of gas, no let’s not. Let’s talk about how your sincere prayer can bring about changes in those things we do not care to think about or talk about. According to one, young, special needs Amish girl, when there is trouble, anxiety, or unrest, all one has to do is bow their head, place their hands together in their lap and silently wait for direction.

Know you are prayed for.
