Coffee is um…eye-opening to say the least

Another early day for me, looking forward to the evening with a few good friends and conversation.

Remember the old “Idol hands are the devil’s playground”?

Insinuating those who have nothing to do will participate in something that will get them into trouble.

Some have said this comes from scripture. IT DOES NOT. Proverbs 16:27 The wicked man diggeth evil, and in his lips is a burning fire. may have inspired St Jerome (4th century) to write “engage in some occupation, so that the devil may always find you busy.” which was repeated by Chaucer in the Canterbury Tales (where I believe made the saying popular) Thus far the only “The Living Bible” from Tindale 1971 comes up with the idea of idleness in its translation. 27 Idle hands are the devil’s workshop; idle lips are his mouthpiece. Be careful in your selection of a bible.

My point, yes, I am going to finally get to the point.

It is good to be idle as long as your responsibilities are taken care of. It is bad to be so busy you don’t have time to think, ponder, and enjoy what God has placed on earth for your enjoyment. It is dangerous to keep your children so busy they have no time to think, explore, play, or create. Our responsibility as a parent is to teach our children to use the virtues, talents, and gifts given to them. This will not happen if we keep them so busy they have no time to find out what their virtues, talents, and gifts are.

Village in deep sleep (of course it is as it is really 3:30AM)

Coffee strong, I’ll need it to be this early in the morning

WHERE DOES YOUR STRENGTH COME FROM?

When gloom and doom seem to drop out of the sky, when everything you have always planned and prayed for seems to go awry; where does the strength to go on come from for you?

Do you try to go it alone? Do you rely on your spouse or friends to carry you? Perhaps you expect others to make it right for you. Perhaps you go into depression, anxiety, or simply retreat from the world.

30 years ago we were in the midst of family turmoil, someone place a card on my windshield it said:

Shari,

this is GOD.

I got it handled.

Trust me.

Go enjoy the day,

“knowing”

I have it handled.

Know you are loved.

GOD

I carried that card for many years.

Check out Daniel Chapter 3 particularly verses 91-95.

Shrew…

My new blog icon

1. a small insectivorous mammal resembling a mouse with a long pointed snout and tiny eyes.
2. a bad-tempered or aggressively assertive woman.

Within the past few weeks, we’ve caught 2 shrews moving swiftly around the baseboards.  They scurry, stop, assess the situation, and quickly move on to the next point. Interesting to watch.

In past years, I’ve read/watched  “The Taming of the Shrew” by William Shakespeare.

Both have something in common. 1. are considered undesirables. 2. are sought after, one for physical death, the other for characteristic death. 3. Neither are seen unless they invade a space they are not welcome in.  4. each has purpose even if we can not define what that purpose is.

So how/why/what does that have to do with this blog?

I enjoy a bit of sleuthing, skulking (stealthfully not furtively) on the edges, due to my being a K.O.O.K.(keeper of odd knowledge) rather than a busy body.

I have been known on occasion to be a bit bad tempered, assertive, and aggressive. So, in essence, the “shrew” fits me in many ways.

I have no idea who did this particular pencil sketch. If you happen to know I’d be happy to give credit where credit is due.

One copy job to do today. The labels came in yesterday’s mail. Quick service from Online Labels.com. I will use their maestro label designer later today to see how easy it is.

Nice visit with my sister-in-law and two nieces yesterday morning. They saved me from having to use a portable. This time of year portables are umm, less than pleasant. For those who have no clue regarding my subject; image 1 is a portable, and image 2 is an outhouse. The portable tank is generally frozen, graphic, and disgusting during the winter and generally very hard to keep clean/or emptied. Most of the Amish businesses have them and keep them fairly decent for use throughout the entire year. The portable company charges approximately 50/week or 200/month for these little items, the suggested change out is weekly. That doesn’t happen in the winter, for that matter in the summer either. The outhouse on the other hand is permanent. Here in Wisconsin, you are required to place it on a concrete holding tank (new ones) that has been certified by your county inspector. However, there are structures that have been in use for years/centuries with simply a pit under them that is emptied as needed. The one I grew up with was emptied/ limed as needed. We called it “The White House”. In polite conversation, you can ask where the “necessary” is.

Although the above discussion isn’t “over breakfast” talk, it is important for us to think about it. Not in the physical world but in our spiritual world.

We “ALL” carry with us daily things (sins) that would be better deposited elsewhere. We have it directly from Christ in John 8:23, 24 ”  23 And he said to them: You are from beneath, I am from above. You are of this world, I am not of this world.  24 Therefore I said to you, that you shall die in your sins. For if you believe not that I am he, you shall die in your sin.” what happens if we continue to live with our sins instead of ridding ourselves of them.

Now some of you go on and on about how judgemental this is of me and how I should not be judging others. Here is what scripture tells me about judging persons. It tells me I cannot know a person’s heart. It tells me I will be judged by God with the same measure I judge others. It tells me that if a person believes, he is not judged, and if he doesn’t believe he has already been judged.

1 Samuel 16:7,   And the Lord said to Samuel: Look not on his countenance, nor on the height of his stature: because I have rejected him, nor do I judge according to the look of man: for man seeth those things that appear, but the Lord beholdeth the heart.

Matthew 7:1-2, Judge not, that you may not be judged,  2 For with what judgment you judge, you shall be judged: and with what measure you mete, it shall be measured to you again.

John 3:18 tell us  18 He that believeth in him is not judged. But he that doth not believe, is already judged: because he believeth not in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

It is true that I do not know your heart I can, however, see your actions, which then lead to my deciding if it is detrimental to my salvation to continue associating with you.

My salvation isn’t a once-and-done thing. It is a living, breathing, daily decision-making way of life. Frankly, as much as I love and care about you, I cannot and will not sacrifice my salvation so that you can feel better about continuing to live in your sin. My door is always open. I am always willing to listen.

Know you are prayed for.

Village quiet

Coffee, should have been tea as first choice

The man still sleeps, glad for that, once again he did too much yesterday

Typical Monday happening for me today. Hope to be home by 5 or sooner. Heard Madison got a 10″ snow dump, weatherman says snow is possible here Tuesday, hopefully it will go around us,my tulips are coming up and I’d love to see them this year.

The photo below are daffodils for my friend Mary, who mentioned them a while back.

Happy Birthday to my eldest son, Michael. WOW! that went by fast…see you later in the week.

Today in scripture, we reading about Jesus writing in the dirt. John 8:8…lots of speculation about what exactly he did write that caused all those stone throwers to drop them and disappear. My focus is what this did for Mary Magdalene. There she was, standing with a circle of holy men wanting to throw stones at her. Jesus steps into her life, and she stands waiting for condemnation… poof! …that is all it takes… Jesus makes a difference. After, mind you, after the threat of death has left, Jesus then says, “sin no more.” Simply stop doing what you were doing, and from this day forward, don’t do it again.

All she had to do was “stop” the sin period. Start a new way of living. She already knew it would be hard. She already knew the road ahead would take time, energy, pain, heartache, and more. She made one step after another moving forward with Jesus to make that change. She didn’t deny she had a past, she didn’t pretend the past wasn’t there. She simply moved forward. That was/is faith. Each of us can do this with our focus on Christ.

Know you are prayed for.

Morning Offering given

Village dead silent, not a wisp of sound

Coffee is left over and reheated…believe it or not, I made this pot myself. An occasion to mark down on the calendar

The man sleeps, a much-deserved one at that, after the antics of yesterday. He has not -a- clue what “retirement” means. I would imagine (and according to Mayo) that is what keeps him young, strong, and happy.

We begin the 5th of Sunday of Lent today. Are you sick of hearing me ask how your journey to Christ is going? Should I have been asking “How’s your journey to the risen Christ going” or perhaps you feel I should have kept my nose out of your personal, faith life? I can’t do that, “keep my nose out” that is because I truly do want to know. I want to know if you know how very important this is to your eternal life. Today the Gospel talks about Lazarus, the brother of Martha and Mary. You know Martha the one who complained about Mary not helping her and Mary the woman who so loved Jesus she, anointed his feet and dried them with her hair. You will find them in John 11, where Lazarus has been dead for 4 days and his tomb sealed. This is an absolutely fascinating chapter of John, one that’s full meaning can be pondered for a lifetime. Tell me sometime your thoughts on this book of the Bible. Let me know how your journey is going.

Most of you know I have left the Facebook, Gab, SP3RN, Twitter, etc crowds to place all here on this blog. I don’t write here to create a book. I write here to get my thoughts and my life on paper. Sometimes my “messy” life. I welcome comments, other ideas, and thoughts that you are welcome to state. I do however draw the line on vulgar, hateful words, those will be removed. I love books, so if you are an author feel free to comment with your link. Once again I do not do vulgar, or hateful. An example of that would be Sandra Brown, although I enjoy her storyline, I cannot get past the vulgar and therefore do not read her.

Birthday greetings today to my Granddaughter…Julia, “Sweet 16”.

I also remember my Great Uncle Eldred who left this world on this day in 2007. May he rest in peace.

The experiment…going well. Better sleep (but not last night due to a different issue), more energy, less knee pain (but perhaps compromised by the recent necessity for the use of a steroid for 7 days), and fewer headaches. We shall see how this ends up. The different issue is the use of a mouth guard at night to see if it relieves my headache…Um I don’t care if it does, after the agreed 10 days I won’t use it again, annoying and that is the nicest thing I can say about it. But I did agree to comply for 10 days so, I comply.

The man started yard raking yesterday. I cleaned off the patio and will get the furniture out later today. The grill is still covered but not for long.

May 11, 12, and 13 are the days I have selected for the rummage sale, this is also apparently the village-wide sale so it should be worth everyone’s time and energy. This sale will have a jet tub, mobile home furnace, furniture, wall art, tools, old/antique farming/garden tools, books, etc. My children have been encouraged to come the last weekend in April (together) to get the items they would like to have (of course to help set up too) because I am not going to be sentimental, this stuff is leaving, period.

I leave you with a funny this morning…”If your nose runs and your feet smell, you are built upside down.

Know you are prayed for.
