How dare the FDA…

Say Infants as young as 6 months should receive the covid vaxx. Irresponsible nincompoops, all of them.

What needs to happen is all vaxxs should stop unless they have been completely studied and bring no harm with use.

Who runs the FDA? WHO IS RESPONSIBLE THERE FOR THIS DECISION?

Looks like cloud cover will move in as the day progresses with rain & snow possibly beginning tomorrow.

Let us take a moment to offer prayers for those in California & in the Northeastern State that they remain safe during the winter weather they are having. Here we are fortunate to have excellent snow removal equipment and experienced snow removers that is not the case in California and some parts of the Northeast. This then leads me to prayers of thanksgiving for the excellent snow removal teams we do have.

Day 74 of Catechism in a Year… how goes it for you?

Once again I am out of books, a trip to the library is instore today

5 days till Spring… yes I am counting.

Matthew 5:17… Do not think that I am come to destroy the law or the prophets. I am not come to destroy, but *to fulfill. * “To fulfill”: By accomplishing all the figures and prophecies; and perfecting all that was imperfect. (Jesus came to bring to fulfillment the plan God had in mind for his people from the beginning. His purpose in coming was to fulfill not abolish.) Let’s think about that for a moment. Because of Jesus, his death, and his resurrection, we can now have an intimate relationship with God. We can receive all the grace we need to live a life pleasing to God. We have the Holy Spirit to convict, teach, and guide us as well as brothers and sisters in Christ to walk with us and support us on the way.

The man will be taking the month of April to work on finishing what we started last fall here at the house. A few prayers would be awesome so we get this project finished up.

Did you know there is a region in Wisconsin called “Gitchee Gumee”? Check out the history of Lake Superior and the native tribes that lived there and those who continue to call it home. It reminded me of this poem by Longfellow.

Hiawatha’s Childhood
By the shores of Gitche Gumee,
By the shining Big-Sea-Water,
Stood the wigwam of Nokomis,
Daughter of the Moon, Nokomis.
Dark behind it rose the forest,
Rose the black and gloomy pine-trees,
Rose the firs with cones upon them;
Bright before it beat the water.
Beat the clear and sunny water,
Beat the shining Big-Sea-Water.
There the wrinkled old Nokomis
Nursed the little Hiawatha.
Rocked him in his linden cradle,
Bedded soft in moss and rushes,
Safely bound with reindeer sinews;
Stilled his fretful wail by saying,
“Hush, the Naked Bear will hear thee!”
Lulled him into slumber, singing,
“Ewa-yea! my little owlet!
Who is this, that lights the wigwam?
With his great eyes lights the wigwam?
Ewa-yea! my little owlet!”
Many things Nokomis taught him
Of the stars that shine in heaven;
Showed him lshkoodah, the comet,
lshkoodah, with fiery tresses,
Showed the Death-Dance of the spirits,
Warriors with their plumes and war-clubs
Flaring far away to northward
In the frosty nights of winter;
Showed the broad white road in heaven,
Pathway of the ghosts, the shadows,
Running straight across the heavens,
Crowded with the ghosts, the shadows.
At the door on summer evenings,
Sat the little Hiawatha,
Heard the whispering of the pine-trees,
Heard the lapping of the waters,
Sounds of music, words of wonder;
“Minne-wawa!” said the pine-trees,
“Mudway-aushka!” said the water.
Saw the fire-fly Wah-wah-taysee,
Flitting through the dusk of evening,
With the twinkle of its candle
Lighting up the brakes and bushes,
And he sang the song of children,
Sang the song Nokomis taught him;
“Wah-wah-taysee, little fire-fly,
Little flitting, white-fire insect,
Little, dancing, white-fire creature,
Light me with your little candle,
Ere upon my bed I lay me,
Ere in sleep I close my eyelids!”
Saw the moon rise from the water,
Rippling, rounding from the water,
Saw the flecks and shadows on it,
Whispered, “What is that, Nokomis?”
And good Nokomis answered:
“Once a warrior, very angry,
Seized his grandmother, and threw her
Up into the sky at midnight;
Right against the moon he threw her;
‘Tis her body that you see there.”
Saw the rainbow in the heaven,
In the eastern sky the rainbow,
Whispered, “What is that, Nokomis?”
And the good Nokomis answered:
“‘Tis the heaven of flowers you see there;
All the wild-flowers of the forest,
All the lilies of the prairie,
When on earth they fade and perish,
Blossom in that heaven above us.”
When he heard the owls at midnight,
Hooting, laughing in the forest,
“What is that?’ he cried in terror;
“What is that,” he said, “Nokomis?”
And the good Nokomis answered;
“That is but the owl and owlet,
Talking in their native language,
Talking, scolding at each other.”
Then the little Hiawatha
Learned their names and all their secrets,
How they built their nests in summer,
Where they hid themselves in winter,
Talked with them whene’er he met them,
Called them “Hiawatha’s Chickens.”
Of all beasts he learned the language,
Learned their names and all their secrets,
How the beavers built their lodges,
Where the squirrels hid their acorns,
How the reindeer ran so swiftly,
Why the rabbit was so timid,
Talked with them whene’er he met them,
Called them “Hiawatha’s Brothers.

The man is off to Iowa for the day.

As for myself, did a quick run into LaCrosse after midnight with a teen who may have encephalitis. She had it last June and was displaying the same symptoms last night. Prayers for her and her family, please. UPDATE She has be transferred (because she wasn’t responding to treatment) to Mayo in Rochester

Friday is the big consignment auction at the Produce Auction building. This auction’s proceeds go to the Amish Special School. Hopefully, it will have a fabulous turnout.

Today think about the compassion and mercy you have received from God. Reflect on it all day.

The order of Easter cards arrived yesterday. They are so beautiful, I know they will be enjoyed.

Rumor has it another snowstorm comes in sometime on Wednesday. Golly gee how lucky we are.

I need to see Pene & Tracy soon.

Let’s talk about the Banks, no let’s not. Let’s talk about the price of gas, no let’s not. Let’s talk about how your sincere prayer can bring about changes in those things we do not care to think about or talk about. According to one, young, special needs Amish girl, when there is trouble, anxiety, or unrest, all one has to do is bow their head, place their hands together in their lap and silently wait for direction.

Know you are prayed for.

Remembering G’ma’s salads

Every now and again, I run across the jello salad cookbook.  It reminds me of my g’ma.  Yesterday I made this one, we had it for supper tonight.

Of course, this is the lemon jello salad. The red jello had sliced bananas, or it could have fruit cocktail; the green jello was with pears or maybe cottage cheese; the orange jello had shredded carrots or mandarin oranges. The best one was unflavored gelitin with bloody Mary mix, olives, and dill pickle relish.

Turn up your nose if you with, however you’d be missing out if you didn’t try them.

Coffee’s good

It is dark, the sun won’t rise until 0718, there will be children walking to school in the dark…wonderful, just wonderful. Am I whining about DST, you bet I am and I will probably keep it up until it ends in November, unless I die from lack of sleep before then. Contact your Congressman/woman and let them know you want Standard time to be year-round, that doctors know it is bad for their health. https://aasm.org/aasm-opposes-permanent-daylight-saving-time-bill-sunshine-protection-act/#:~:text=%E2%80%9CThe%20science%20is%20clear%3A%20Restoring,for%20public%20health%20and%20safety.

Happy Birthday to my niece, Hannah. Hope your day is wonderful!

LENT is a time to seek a DEEPER & STRONGER relationship with Christ, it doesn’t have to be complicated. We can simply ask him for it. Our elaborate regime during lent doesn’t change God, we need to come to him in humility and simplicity so he can change us. He is looking for open and ready hearts that will receive him and act. Are you willing to change/transform your life by simply welcoming him to be a part of it?

Prayers of Praise & Thanksgiving to God…Natalie had her scans and is cancer free. Prayers for J who is seeking help and for K to endure; A&K as they close the purchase of their 1st house; A to get a handle on the alcohol and substance abuse issues and be willing to admit the issues exist; T to come to terms with his part in his situation and do the work necessary to change; for those who have stepped away from their faith that they feel a need to return; for those who have died and those who remain; for those who have anxiety issues; for parents who have hard decisions to make regarding their children; for those preparing to receive the sacrament of Confirmation; May we all come closer to Christ.

Have a totally awesome day!

Village silent, covered in snow

Well, here it is 0400 CDT. You advocators are probably sound asleep in your bed, but your hair brain idea has me up at my regular time.  My body time is begging for just one more hour, but oh  no, we can’t be having that. If I had your phone number, I’d be calling each morning so we could begin the day together.

0600, a peek outside tells me you are still nestled in your beds.  The plow operator has started his day.  Ya know what? It is still dark out there and will be for at least another hour.

Coffee’s good.  Using my flowered pioneer woman cup while pretending the grass is turning green and the wind is a drying one. Spring is coming, really, it is!

Great top find at Goodwill yesterday. Also snagged this little beauty.  Not that I need it, but it is cute. And would make a nice little gift.

One person with steeping basket teapot.
The tops are springy and have pockets.

Last but not least, two never/or read once children’s books. The good ones without fairies, dragons, or Disney characters.
